Seafarer and Navigator!!
Not sure where you’re from so this might be a non-issue where you live, but… [name_u]Traveller[/name_u] was Confederate [name_m]General[/name_m] [name_u]Robert[/name_u] E. Lee’s horse, and at least in the American [name_u]South[/name_u], I think people would know that and associate it. Shamefully, there are plenty of statutes of him on the horse still around, so if you’re in the US… something to think about!
I think it depends on where you live and if you plan to move to the Southeastern US.
I’m in the Southwest US and that is not a known fact here… we learned about Confederate [name_m]General[/name_m] [name_u]Robert[/name_u] E. [name_u]Lee[/name_u] here, but his horse’s name never came up.
I’m sure it’s like this in most places outside the Southeast US.
Agree, I think it’s definitely a [name_u]Southern[/name_u] US thing. It’s such a random fact, but we definitely learned about it.
[name_u]Everest[/name_u]
[name_m]Crusoe[/name_m]
[name_u]Sailor[/name_u]
[name_u]Ocean[/name_u]
[name_f]Earhart[/name_f]
I also love to see someone else with Wander on their list!
@shells15 Omg I love Somerled! I always forget about it but every time I see it, my heart skips a beat! Thank you!
@Oreobunn Thanks so much! Blazer, [name_u]Fjord[/name_u], and [name_u]Wanderer[/name_u] are fantastic
@halinka Thank you for these suggestions! I have had [name_f]Acadia[/name_f] off and on my list forever, I should give it another thought! I also like [name_f]Nimue[/name_f], [name_u]Polaris[/name_u], [name_f]Viatrix[/name_f] (!!), Peregrinate (never heard of this one, just Peregrine), Solivagant, Vagary, Fernweh, Voyage, Wayfarer, and Wayfinder.
@Scottie491 Sojourn/Sojourner is so lovely! I also like [name_m]Faro[/name_m] for a boy. Thank you!
@EagleEyes [name_u]Journey[/name_u] is actually a perfect example!
@canyonmoon28 Yes! For me to use a place name, I would need it to have an important meaning to me/my family.
@Oblivious_octopus I love Amble! [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] is also lovely. [name_m]Venturo[/name_m] is also quite interesting, and I didn’t know that St. [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] was the patron saint of travelers.
@Greyblue Oooh [name_m]Navigator[/name_m]! I love it.
@lisshie @shells15 Thanks for the feedback! This is why [name_u]Traveller[/name_u] is mostly a GP for me I’m from the former Capitol of the Confederacy (and working to get those shameful statues removed) so very aware of the association, and wouldn’t want to use it IRL. But now I have lots of new alternatives
@BronwynParry1 [name_f]Earhart[/name_f] is super cool! And I’m always happy to show Wander some love.
Thanks everyone for the great contributions! I have lots to sort through now.
