Boy name only.
It’s definitely all boy, nothing about it is feminine at all.
Despite the fact that it rhymes with the ultra feminine [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], it is still better for a boy in my opinion. I love [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] on a boy spelled this way and [name_f]Kristin[/name_f] spelled this way for a girl.
Boy’s name.
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] is pretty much just for boys in my book. I think [name_f]Trista[/name_f] would be the female version.
Only on a boy! On a girl, try [name_f]Christina[/name_f] (love) or [name_f]Trinity[/name_f] (NMS but sounds similar).
The only [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] I know is a girl so I see it as unisex I like it better on a boy though
I guess it could be unisex. I think it’s a handsome name on a boy, but I also see how it could be a cool pick for a girl. What about [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] nn [name_u]Tris[/name_u]? I like [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], too.
Despite what numerous [name_f]Berrie[/name_f]'s are saying, I think [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] is perfectly fine as a girls name. I have always considered it as being a fairly ‘soft’ boys name (not that that is in anyway a bad thing), and I think it works perfectly for a girl: a sort of hybrid of [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] and [name_f]Trinity[/name_f]. If you love it, go for it. I much prefer it on a girl.
Dislike. [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] is a boy’s name. What about [name_f]Tressa[/name_f] or [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] instead?
I knew a girl named [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] (who passed at age 15, unfortunately), so I don’t mind it on a girl. I do slightly prefer it on a boy, though.
All boy [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]; I’m a woman nearing 50 years of age. [name_f]My[/name_f] mother saw it on a little girl in a magazine and loved it. When I was a child, few people had heard of it, or they said “As in [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]?” Now, most people assume it’s a boy; it causes slight confusion at the dentist or wherever. Or they think I’m using my husband’s credit card. For that reason I might stay away from it for a girl; I’ve met quite a few young male Tristans. I’ve always liked my name, though.
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] was the girl in that legend, not [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
I also agree that [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] is best left to the boys.
No. [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] is a masculine name. I would hate to see this on a female.
Yes, that’s what I meant- they had either never heard of it (therefore didn’t assume a gender) or they knew it as s boy’s name. Now everyone HAS heard of it- as a boy’s name. I guess I wasn’t clear enough in my post.
I wasn’t directing that to you, I was directing it to the question of [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] as a girl’s name, haha.
I like it for a girl maybe [name_u]Trystin[/name_u] or [name_u]Tristyn[/name_u]?
