Tristan?

Hello,

What do you think of the name [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]?

Thank You for your help.

Quite a few years ago, I read a book with [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] as the main characters name, and for a wile I loved it afterwards. Now though, it feels like its missing something; it feels both a little insubstantial, and a little too much.

I know several, it’s a fine name

It’s one of my favourite boys names! I love how it’s soft and sweet but also feels adventurous at the same time!

A personal favorite of mine, as it is the name of my oldest son  I knew one [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] when I was young and the name always intrigued me. To me, the name fits a young boy but also matures with him to a handsome grown man.

It is one of my favorite boys’ names also, but it has been in the top 100 in the 2000s.

Great name. My 12 year old nephew is [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]. It’s gentle but strong.

Handsome, romantic, under-used where I’m from.

Unfortunately for me, it has negative personal connotations, but I love it for anyone/everyone else!

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Tristan[/name_u], but it’s a good name.

I absolutely love the name [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]. It’s brave, daring, light and happy all at once. It’s very handsome!

I had a small crush on a guy with that name in college. He was gorgeous. I love the name!

I like [name_u]Tristan[/name_u]. It was on our list, if we’d had a boy. I say go for it!

[name_f]Susan[/name_f]

I like it! We considered it if my oldest was a boy.

I named my son [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] a decade before [name_m]Brad[/name_m] [name_m]Pitt[/name_m]'s “Legends of the Fall” (in which you hear the name every few minutes) so, way back then, people often thought it was a girl’s name. He decided to go by “[name_u]Tris[/name_u]” in middle school – but went back to the full “[name_u]Tristan[/name_u]” when he reached college and realized girls absolutely loved the name! I am a [name_m]French[/name_m] teacher and always adored the name ("[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] et Iseut") . . . romantic yet strong and adventurous – a knight from Arthurian legend. For his own son, he chose the name [name_f]Marin[/name_f] (which I keep trying to get Nameberry to realize IS a MALE name meaning “of the sea.” The country of San [name_m]Marino[/name_m] was named after [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_f]Marin[/name_f] – a man – and the name is popular in Croatia, with famous tennis players and footballers named [name_f]Marin[/name_f]. I am hoping that, like [name_u]Tristan[/name_u], one day in the near future my grandson [name_f]Marin[/name_f] will have people recognizing it as a strong-but-romantic boy’s name, just like his dad’s.)

I’ve only met two Tristans, one of whom is in the grade above me. It’s known but has gotten less popular over the years. I say it’s a fine name, go for it.

My best friend is a girl named [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] and I love it for either gender.

I like [name_u]Tristan[/name_u], I’d say go for it

My absolute favourite! I love the sound, the modern yet classic feel, the mythological connection - it ticks every single box for me, and is the frontrunner for if I ever have a son (that is, if boyfriend will ever come around to it).

I have [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_m]Erik[/name_m] picked out as the combo, still mulling over second middle names (as I want to stick a more outlandish favourite in there as well) and Oisín/[name_m]Ossian[/name_m] is a current favourite.

Can’t say I like it on a girl at all, though, simply because I’m not a fan of traditionally masculine names on girls in general.

[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] I absolutely adore. If we hadn’t picked such a massive name for our first kiddo [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] would probably be on my short list. (Maybe as a middle still though!)

Very handsome, It is still one of my favorite names, but my sister had an abusive ex named [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] so its unusable for me due to associations.
