Trudie / Trudy... short for what?

I think [name]Trudie[/name] is so sweet. What would it be short for? [name]Gertrude[/name]? Thoughts…

Have you met any little Trudies / Trudys? Have you ever met a [name]Trudy[/name]?

I think it is so pretty.

[name]Trudie[/name] or [name]Trudy[/name] are bOth very cute nicknames for [name]Gertrude[/name]. A girl in my husbands high school math class was called [name]Trudy[/name] and her real name was [name]Teresa[/name]. She said her parents didn’t [name]Terry[/name] was a good name for a girl (bear in mind this is of a time when most parents would never have thought of [name]Tessa[/name] or the like as options. )

I love it! I know a [name]Trudie[/name] who is kust [name]Trudie[/name]. She’s my mother’s friend. [name]Gertrude[/name] is the only other option I can think of.

I’ve also heard the name Erentrude, which i like better than [name]Gertrude[/name]. The nn [name]Trudy[/name] tends to be cuter than the names themselves: i think it could work as a fn by itself at this point; if people name their kids [name]Kate[/name] or [name]Jack[/name] alone, [name]Trudy[/name] should be fine.

I did find a list of ancient Germanic names that includes

Adaltrude
Beretrude
Engeltrude
Ermentrude
Hiltrude
Ingitrude
Regintrude

My name is [name_f]Trudy[/name_f]. It’s not short for anything

I love [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f], [name_f]Trudy[/name_f], [name_f]Trudie[/name_f], Ermintrude, [name_f]Gerda[/name_f], you name it.

I think [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] is super sweet! Quirky and super cute. I think having anything with tr in it could garner anything close enough to get to [name_f]Trudy[/name_f]. Here’s a little list!

[name_f]Katarina[/name_f]
[name_f]Katrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Trina[/name_f]
[name_f]Terina[/name_f]
[name_f]Theresa[/name_f]

or even

Rodelle

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I once read a book with a character named Truden, who went by [name_m]Tru[/name_m]. I think [name_f]Trudy[/name_f]/[name_f]Trudie[/name_f] would work with Truden, as well.
I also think that [name_f]Trudy[/name_f]/[name_f]Trudie[/name_f] could be fine as a full name just on its own.
