Trudy?

Hey Berries,

My husband and I are currently expecting our fourth child (gender unknown). I brought up names to him saying we should get a solid list going. He brought up the name [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] and I was shocked! I would never think he would like this old gem. I definitely think it’s ready for a comeback but, I’m not sure if it would go with our sibset ([name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_m]Alastair[/name_m]). What do you ladies think? Is there other names with a similar feel that might suit his interest?

I actually really like [name_f]Trudy[/name_f]! It’s very sweet yet substantial. I would love to meet one.
I think [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] goes well with Vivienne, [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_m]Alastair[/name_m].

Trudy is not my style, but if you both love it, I think it does work well with the siblings! A wonderfully quirky, strong set

Oh I’ve been crushing on this name so hard recently!! I absolutely adore it. I see it as a name that can be worn at any age. I just find it so sweet and pleasant. I’ve been playing around with the idea of a sister set [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] and [name_f]Marcy[/name_f], though I can see [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] as a bit harder to sell. I think [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] fits well with your other kids just fine

I love [name_f]Trudy[/name_f].

It’s short for [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] isn’t it? Is it short for anything else?

I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Trudy[/name_f], but I don’t hate it. I do, however, think it’s a darling middle name.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] your kids names! I think [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] goes well. It has 2 syllables just like [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], and the other two kids both have 3 syllables.

Thank you ladies for your opinions and helpful suggestions!

While [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] isn’t a name I’d immediately think of as a match for [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and [name_m]Alastair[/name_m], I think it works quite well. It’s sweet and spunky, and I think it feels ready for revival. I also like [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] , but I realise that might be more of an acquired taste.

I absolutely adore [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] and have for nearly two decades. Finally it’s style might be in fashion again ” It’s fits better amongst your other children’s names far better than I think you realize. Some have mentioned it is a nickname for [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f], but it’s strong enough to stand on its own. Perhaps [name_u]True[/name_u] as a further nickname!!

Such a beautiful suggestion!

I think it’s a good name and goes very well with the siblings. I know one around 12 years old, and think it seems fresh on a young one.

It’s a lovely name, easy to spell, cheerful but classic. Run with it!

[name_f]Trudy[/name_f] is lovely. [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] [name_f]Elisa[/name_f] would be pretty.

I’ve never been big on nicknames as stand-alone first names because it restricts choices rather than opening them up. Personally, I’d go with Ermintrtude, which has the same root as [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. That way, if [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] goes through the “I want to be like everyone else; why did you name me this?” phase, you could tell her that you gave the the long version of [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and she can use that if she wants.

Honestly? I would be so sad if my sisters had gorgeous names like [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and I ended up as [name_f]Trudy[/name_f].

Yeah I’m not a [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] fan, so sorry. Your other girls have such beautiful names, [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] feels a bit frumpy to me with them. I love [name_u]True[/name_u], but I realize that’s probably not your style. For some reason I think of [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] also, nn [name_f]Prue[/name_f], but I know this is a love or hate name usually. I adore it. Maybe because I am a Charmed fan. Some other names that come to mind with your other children are

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]

[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]

[name_f]Trudy[/name_f] always reminds me of the tv show Monk! Personally it’s not my style but I think it goes fine with your children’s names. Maybe not the most obvious choice but it doesn’t sound odd.
