So, I am in love with the name [name_u]Azariah[/name_u]. I love the sound, the meaning, it has connections to a Bible story I love, and it really feels like that’s my baby’s name. However, my husband is concerned that it could be too unique, too long and doesn’t have many options for nick names.
I threw around [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] as a middle at some point, and he’d prefer that as a first. I don’t like it as much as a first and I’m really not a fan of the nicknames or it being in the top 10. No matter what we do, I’d like to incorporate [name_u]Azariah[/name_u] as a middle. He’s more open to [name_m]Josiah[/name_m], which I also love and would gladly use, but I worry that [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] [name_u]Azariah[/name_u] sounds to rhyme-y. Our last name ends in “feld” and doesn’t rhyme at all, and when I say it out loud it sounds good to me, but that may be because I really want it to work.
I don’t know why I’m having such a hard time letting this one name go, but I’m sure the pregnancy hormones aren’t helping at all! Any input is helpful
I really like [name_u]Azariah[/name_u]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Zee[/name_f]? Zari? Azree or AJ for nicknames? Yes, you have to use [name_u]Azariah[/name_u] [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] to get to that nickname but I think it’s worth it to get there.
A compromise that might suit would be a combination of [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] and [name_u]Azariah[/name_u]. [name_m]Benaiah[/name_m]
The original [name_m]Benaiah[/name_m] was [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m]'s bodyguard, so it is Biblical, and fits in with your preferences.
I’m sorry but I think [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] [name_u]Azariah[/name_u] sounds silly. If [name_u]Azariah[/name_u] is that important to you in the middle I would look for a new first name that doesn’t rhyme. Who knows, maybe as the search continues [name_u]Azariah[/name_u] will start to feel more normal and natural to your husband and you’ll be able to use it as a first. Good luck.
I could see [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_u]Azariah[/name_u], and I think [name_u]Azariah[/name_u] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] or [name_u]Ari[/name_u] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] would work nicely. I wouldn’t pair [name_m]Josiah[/name_m] with [name_u]Azariah[/name_u], even with another middle in the mix somewhere.
