So for those of you following my threads you will know that my husband has changed his mind a couple of times on “the” name. However, he seems to be set on [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and has promised he won’t change his mind. The problem is that he loves [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] which is pretty but it doesn’t excite me and since he picked the first name this time around I think I should pick the middle.
We like three syllable middles to balance out the 1 syllable last name. Older sisters are [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
Middles I like but maybe don’t work with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] so you can get a sense of what I’m after.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] is beautiful! I love the idea of [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as sisters. I actually like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], and I’m not generally a [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] aficionado. I quite like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] from your list, though, and want to like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] (although it’s too flowery for me in reality). What about:
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] (this is on someone else’s list on here, and I absolutely love it!)
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
I quite like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] but I understand what you mean with wanting to pick out the middle yourself.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about…
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
Thank you for the suggestions so far…I like [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] but not sure if I’m sold on them. Names like [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] are nice but maybe too vanilla? I had [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] picked out a long time ago as a potential middle for a different name and I still like it…just not sure if it’s right.
It has just been a challenge this time around to find the right name!
I like a lot of these ([name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]) I’ll have to toss them around and see if one sticks out.
And I just wanted to say thank you for replying on pretty much every thing I have posted. Your suggestions have been very helpful and I appreciate the way you express your opinion on a name in a very constructive manner. I have always enjoyed your posts…
Oh, I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f]! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is gorgeous, but so are many of your other choices. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but that may be too vanilla for you as well.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is lovely! I think it goes really well with [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], actually…
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is lovely even with the two r sounds! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] fits with [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] fits with [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
Thanks for all the positive comments. I think [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is a battle I won’t win with my husband. I have tried. He doesn’t even warm up to it.
I like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. And [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is still an option. I just always worry about making my kids names sound too old. And [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are both in that category. But I do think the combo sounds good.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] - is beautiful! It feels modern and yet Shakespearean. I also think the stress at the end sounds better than say [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] where the stress is on the first syllable.
I too like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] very much! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] is adorable too! [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is also one of my own favorites and at the top of my list for a fn. I like the style you have with your sibset of 2 syl. & 3 syl. very nice.
I wouldn’t consider [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] too old as both names seem to be coming back into style right now, so If you love it and your husband agrees use it! You both seem to be attracted to a “J” middle names, so how about
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Genevra[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f]
And you seem to really like “R” middles so maybe
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
