@StrawberryWitch congratulations!!
Yep! After 2 kids the weight just refuses to budge and Im easily at the heaviest [name_f]Ive[/name_f] ever been. And it really bothers me. But right now Im not in a place physically or mentally that I can tackle it, so its just gonna have to be what it is for awhile. I have other priorities that need to be delt with first before I can start to focus on my weight.
omg Congratulations!

So many successes in this thread recently, it’s heartwarming. (And so many that had been very long awaited, too!)
I am totally there, too! I have a 1 year old (16 months) and have been struggling with my 7kg weight gain. I am obese and I really struggle with my weight. Yesterday I decided to get back on metformin to try and lose the weight.
Giant congratulations! You are going to be a great mom.
Wow! Thanks. I hope so lol
It’s really difficult right? Good luck!!
@StrawberryWitch and @cms1512 congratulations to you both!! you will be wonderful mothers and I’m so happy for you both!
Looks like it is another long, disappointing cycle again. CD 40 and still nothing. I started 500 mg a day of Metformin earlier this week, so I hope that helps soon!
Props to you for trying Metformin. I started it in [name_m]March[/name_m] 2023, felt terrible allllll summer, and was finally able to up the dose in [name_f]October[/name_f] 2023 but still felt terrible by [name_m]March[/name_m] 2024 so I stopped. It was surprising because I normally handle meds well.
Most people are able to adjust after a few weeks, though, so I hope you get to a dosage that helps you best soon!
So… I have PCOS.
Still waiting for the lab results for an official diagnosis but that’s really just a formality at this point. Like, even I could make out the string of pearls in the ultrasound. Now I’m just hoping the results come in quickly so things move on and I can get medication. Definitely glad I didn’t wait the recommended 12 months before seeking help ![]()
Ouch.
You can have polycystic ovaries and not have PCOS but I get that you’re pretty sure of the diagnosis.
The initial diagnosis sucks so take all the time you need to process but just an FYI, many women with PCOS find a high protein, low carb diet to be beneficial for overall wellness in addition to fertility and cycle regulation. Since we were under the year mark, it’s hard for me to say if that helped us conceive but a good friend of mine (who is more active/overall healthier than me) took 4 years and that was the only thing that helped them even after trying ovulation meds. I just find I feel better when I’m not eating as many carbs (although you need more carbs when pregnant).
[name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought. Definitely do your own research though! And PCOS is not the automatic diagnosis for infertility that some people make it out to be.
Sorry to hear but welcome to the club. [name_f]My[/name_f] diagnosis was the other two parts of the criteria: irregular periods and ‘hyperandrogenism’. I had the option to get an ultrasound for the third criterion but I declined because it was clear as day. Did you fit other criteria?
When I conceived back in 2022 after a while trying, I had been on metformin and had lost about 4kg. I was also counting calories. Evidence suggests even a slight bit of weight loss helps w fertility. That is what I’m trying now but it’s harder this time around ![]()
Keep us posted!
The irregular periods were what made me seek a doctor’s opinion in the first place. I don’t think I fit any other criteria, although I have to admit I didn’t know how to answer his question if I had trouble losing weight – the 10% I gained last year due to antidepressants are still around but I figured it’s that hard for anyone?
Definitely will keep you all posted. I have to say, so far I am dealing poorly with the thought of the journey that might be in front of me. I really thought I was emotionally prepared as well as can be, but turns out that’s not very well.
@Wandarine sorry to hear about your diagnosis! But hopefully getting some answers will help you regulate. ![]()
[name_f]My[/name_f] GP said that they recommend further intervention for women with PCOS who are TTC if they aren’t successful after around 6 months. I hit that mark this month. I made an appt with my OBGYN, same wonderful woman who provided me with maternity care and delivered my baby, so I trust her immensely. She also specialises in fertility issues. I’m hoping to get something beyond metformin that can help me ovulate regularly. It will be mostly out-of-pocket, though, which sucks. It’s not cheap either. Oh, and the appt isn’t until [name_m]August[/name_m], which is a downer but maybe I’ll have some baby dust thrown my way before then.
TTC for baby #2 right now and I am addicted to baby name research
it’s best to be prepared. Naming a human is difficult for me because I feel like there’s always something about a name I have reservations about (even if I love it.) [name_m]Or[/name_m] hubby vetos the majority of the names I love ![]()
@turnip I’m sorry you have to wait til [name_m]August[/name_m]! And that you will have to pay.
I hate that most insurance doesn’t cover fertility treatments. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I had to basically cut out all fun or superfluous spending to be able to afford our IUIs and now IVF. But hopefully you’ll be able to get on something, ovulate, and get pregnant quickly! ![]()
Update:
I got my diagnosis. Apparently I fit 3/3 criteria.
[name_f]My[/name_f] doctor had never heard that with PCOS you should wait only 6 months before seeking help instead of 12, but he gave me the referral to fertility and told me to just lie to them ![]()
Also I forgot to ask pretty much all of my other questions regarding PCOS, like dietary restrictions ![]()
still having some issues tracking my cycle, but i’m on day 28, and am home from work with fatigue, nausea, and pelvic pain. being a woman is so tough- i’m never sure if it’s my chronic illness, endometriosis, my period starting or early symptoms of pregnancy ![]()
i did take a test this morning and it came back negative- so i don’t think i’m in luck this time.
