Tucker

How do we feel about [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] ? It’s my husbands absolute favorite boy name. We’ve had it picked out for about 8 years and I think it’s lost it’s shine for me. It would be [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] [name_m]Ross[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] girls are [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. What do you berries think?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I like it! I’m a big fan of baseball player-y sounding boy names, which I think this is. I can also picture a little [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] hiking through the woods, & playing in a creek. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a fun loving, adventurous boyish name. And it’s really cute w/Hazel & [name_f]Margot[/name_f] too. There was a lady on the baby name message board that I was on years & years ago (I mean, this kid is probably like 22 years old now) who had a son named [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] nn [name_m]Tucker[/name_m]. I think that maybe [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] was a family name. It’s totally a stretch, but I always thoughts that it was super handsome & interesting. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought!

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

I really like [name_m]Tucker[/name_m]! I think it’s sweet and outdoorsy, exactly like @MichelleM described playing in a creek or the woods. I also think [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] works well with [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] [name_m]Ross[/name_m] is a very handsome combo, and [name_m]Tuck[/name_m] could make a sweet nickname, too. I like it!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] [name_m]Russel[/name_m], or just [name_m]Russel[/name_m] if you’re not feeling [name_m]Tucker[/name_m]?
Like the other posters said, [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] is very outdoorsy! I love that about it.

Hazel, [name_f]Margot[/name_f], and [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] are an adorable sibset! Maybe brainstorming middles could help the name regain its sparkle? I think [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] would go beautifully with a nature name, maybe a braver one like [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] or something that brings out the outdoorsiness, but I don’t know whether that’s your style!

It’s ok… It makes me think of [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] or [name_u]Finn[/name_u] (like [name_m]Huckleberry[/name_m]) which I much prefer!

I do like @midwinter’s suggestion of [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] though.

No.

Thank you all! [name_m]Ross[/name_m] is a family name. [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] is :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes: though!!

I also love [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]. It was a no go for my husband unfortunately.

I don’t care for [name_m]Tucker[/name_m]. But when I read the names of your little girls, I felt strongly that [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] is a lovely name alongside [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

Agh I’m so sorry! I somehow managed NOT to catch the part where you already had settled on a middle name and weren’t looking for suggestions. :woman_facepalming: [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] [name_m]Ross[/name_m] is so sweet and works beautifully in the sibset!

I don’t like it as much as [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u].

I’m sorry to be negative, but I would be concerned about teasing potential—I could see older kids substituting “s” or “f” for the “t.” [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to make sure you’d considered that in making your choice.
Also, I love your daughters’ names!

Yes, I’ve thought about that too! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband thinks from a ‘boys’ side, that being called *ucker isn’t necessarily a hard nickname to deal with. :woman_shrugging:t2: I’m not so sure though…

I went to school with a boy named [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] and he never got called that as far as I remember (only through fifth grade, though, so it may have cropped up later after I changed schools). I’m not sure I’d agree with your husband that it wouldn’t be too bad for a boy to be called that (:joy:) but I don’t think it’s completely unavoidable and horrific either.

Tucker is one of my favorite names so I’m all aboard team [name_m]Tucker[/name_m]!

As far as unfortunate nicknames, I grew up with a [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] and to my knowledge he was never called anything other than [name_m]Tuck[/name_m] or [name_m]Tucker[/name_m]. Also, I’m a middle school teacher, and kids these days are generally more accepting of all kinds of names that would have been more of a bullying target back in my generation.

I think it’s cute! It’s one that people recognize immediately but I don’t think I’ve actually met one before. It has the same playful vibe to me as your girls’ names!
