He is Turkish, and we ideally wanted a Turkish name that is easily pronounceable in [name_f]English[/name_f]. His name gets mispronounced all the time, so he doesn’t want to put our daughter through the same thing! Initially I loved the name [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] and thought it could be a unisex Turkish name. But every Turkish person we have talked to has been adamant that it’s a boy’s name. Thoughts about [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] for a girl and any other suggestions?

I’m not super familiar with Turkish names so I don’t have any suggestions, but I just wanted to add that if you are living in the US, I think [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] would be thought of as a girl name, since Maya/Maia/Kaia are all pretty common girl names. There’s also an American [name_f]Girl[/name_f] doll named [name_u]Kaya[/name_u], who is Native American. I knew a [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] in high school and always thought her name was beautiful.

Yeah should have prefaced that we live in the US. I thought the same that no one here would perceive [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] as a boy’s name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] don’t want her Turkish relatives to mock her
