[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! Does anyone know how we could use the surname [name_m]Powell[/name_m] and turn it into a girl’s name?
We thought of [name_f]Paula[/name_f] or [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], but not really a fan of those. Want to use it as a middle name. First name will be [name_u]Amal[/name_u].
I thought of Wella (like Willa), but I’m not sure if that’s too much of a stretch. What do you think?
[name_u]Amal[/name_u] [name_m]Powell[/name_m] works in my opinion, plenty of girls have family surnames as middle names even if they aren’t particularly feminine surnames. You could also use [name_m]Powell[/name_m] as a first name with the nickname [name_f]Polly[/name_f].
[name_f]Paula[/name_f], [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], and Wella all work in my opinion. Other ideas are [name_f]Polly[/name_f], [name_f]Perenelle[/name_f], [name_u]Lowell[/name_u], or [name_f]Elwell[/name_f].
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] was my first thought too! But honestly I love the idea of [name_m]Powell[/name_m] for a girl. The sounds don’t come across as hyper masculine or anything like that, and I love family surnames in the middle for both sexes.
[name_m]Powell[/name_m] is too masculine for my taste to be used for a girl. I recommend [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], Powella, [name_f]Perla[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_u]Penny[/name_u], Owella, [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], [name_f]Luella[/name_f] / [name_f]Louella[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Portia[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f], [name_f]Polina[/name_f], or maybe even [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] which is still not too good for a girl in my opinion but at least it is a gender neutral name, [name_m]Powell[/name_m] it is a boy’s name and sounds bad for a girl in my opinion, also because [name_u]Amal[/name_u] is already gender neutral and for me is very masculine sounding but cool for a girl, so I think [name_u]Amal[/name_u] Powella, [name_u]Amal[/name_u] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] or [name_u]Amal[/name_u] [name_f]Polina[/name_f] would be cool!!
I think [name_m]Powell[/name_m] sounds are soft enough to be used outright as a girls name especially in the middle. If that doesn’t feel right I second the suggestions of [name_f]Paula[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] plus maybe [name_f]Perla[/name_f] or [name_m]Pell[/name_m]?
Jsyk where i live Wella is a common nickname for grandma (usually spelled like this too) so I personally would probably go with [name_f]Willa[/name_f] if you go that route. However in the middle spot it probably wouldn’t be such a big deal just something to be aware of.
Wella could work! If not [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], I think [name_f]Polina[/name_f] looks much more streamlined and if [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] works, I think [name_f]Polina[/name_f] could as well - [name_u]Amal[/name_u] [name_f]Polina[/name_f] is really cool!
This is also a stretch, but I thought of [name_u]Lowell[/name_u] which at one point was feminized to [name_f]Lovella[/name_f] - maybe something like Povella/Pavela? I’m not sure if either are actual names, but I think [name_u]Amal[/name_u] Povella or [name_u]Amal[/name_u] Pavela look really nice!
[name_f]Elle[/name_f] would be lovely! Maybe [name_u]Power[/name_u], [name_f]Pella[/name_f], [name_m]Wells[/name_m], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], or [name_u]Poe[/name_u]? But really, I love [name_m]Powell[/name_m] for a girl. That’s fantastic.
