Right now DH and I are set on [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] for one of the girls. Middle names are still being debated but I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].
Options so far are:
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] (difficult to say in my native language)
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] (family name, and I like it, but pref. w. NN [name_f]Edie[/name_f], is that too much of a stretch?)
[name_f]Martha[/name_f] (DH yells “why did you say that name?” every single time I mention it, not sure I can live with the reference)
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (love it, but it’s getting so popular. We much prefer [name_f]Nell[/name_f] or [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] to [name_u]Penny[/name_u])
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] (love it, but too much “bee” sound in their names? Is it too matchy?)
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] (This is DH’s absolute favourite, but I viscerally dislike [name_f]Susan[/name_f] and I’m afraid it would get shortened)
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]
Thoughts? Other suggestions? [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] are out for various reasons. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] or [name_f]Florence[/name_f].
I like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f] a lot. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Martha[/name_f] still sound too old lady to me. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] seems incomplete next to [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] to me. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] work. I like [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. Maybe if you found a nickname you liked you would like it better. I knew one who went by [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f].
Other ideas:
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Bianca[/name_f]
[name_f]Julianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]
I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]! I also like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] (maybe from longer [name_f]Helen[/name_f]?).
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is darling-I absolutely love the combination!
These are my thoughts on your other possible names for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]'s twin:
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]: A lovely name, but if it’s difficult to say in your native langauge that’s a hard barrier to overcome, and as you have so many options, I would leave it and move on.
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]: I like it a lot on it’s own, and I don’t think that nickname [name_f]Edie[/name_f] is much of a stretch at all, in fact, I love it! However, I don’t think it pairs so well with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. It’s strange, separately they are both such beautiful elegant names but when paired they sem a bit clunky to me. Possibly it’s the combined six syllables?
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]: A nice name, but I don’t love it with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]: I love it, but when compared to the elegant [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] it seems a little diminished. Have you considered using a longer form such as [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] go together beautifully.
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]: This name always seems a little downtrodden to me. Though as above, I prefer it as a nickname for a longer name.
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]: A lovely name, though I prefer it paired with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] as a middle.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]: This goes beautifully with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], and though it is admittedly becoming more popular, your suggestions of alternative nicknames could solve any popularity problems later in life. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] sound less common than [name_f]Penelope[/name_f].
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]: This is great, and if anything I think the repeated ‘be’ sound is subtle enough that it actually pleasantly links the names together without sounding too matchy matchy.
[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]: If you dislike [name_f]Susan[/name_f] that much, I really wouldn’t risk it as a name. It also doesn’t flow so well with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] for me.
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is lovely, but somehow not right for this combo for me.
Overall my favourite name for you is [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] sound like strong and beautiful names.
I love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]!
From your list, [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] is my favorite and [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] would be a great combo. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Susan[/name_f] either, but I think [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] is beautiful. There are also a lot of nickname options: [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Sue[/name_f], [name_f]Susie[/name_f], [name_f]Sanna[/name_f]. [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is my second favorite, [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] would be adorable nicknames. I also really like [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a lovely name! And I think [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] ([name_f]Edie[/name_f] works great as a nickname!) or [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] would be beautiful! If you’re afraid of her having a nickname, just introduce her as [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] and if it gets shortened to [name_f]Susie[/name_f] or something you don’t like, just gently correct them, and as she grows she won’t respond to [name_f]Susie[/name_f] Honestly I love [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] or [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], and if you want a nickname for [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], their is always the choice of other nicknames beyond [name_f]Susan[/name_f] or [name_f]Susie[/name_f] or [name_f]Sue[/name_f]
I like most of the names on your list and I think they would pair pretty nicely but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. My favorites from your list are [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]. I think they’d make such a wonderful set with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. Plus, I can’t imagine [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] being shortened to [name_f]Susan[/name_f]. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is so sweet and spunky and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] feels really bright and happy. I’ll suggest other options but I think you already have some real winners.
My name is very close to [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] ([name_f]Beatriz[/name_f]), and my sister is called [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. Many people say it’s a very good fit.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
From your list I like [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].
