Twin girls- still need help!

Ok, so I’m 37 weeks with my twin girls and things will be going down sometime next week and my husband and I just can’t come up with middle names we both like.

It’s looking like the first names will be [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f](a)

Our other set of twins are named [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Fox[/name_u] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u] [name_u]Snow[/name_u] and we’d like to have these girls have a one syllable nature name as well for the second middle name.

As for the first middle name, I really like [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] but can’t get my husband on board. He thinks the names are too long, especially [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].
He likes [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] but they’re too popular/I have friends who named their daughters [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f].

We are down to the wire on this and we are having the hardest time! Help us!

Your kids’ names are stunning! I love [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] with [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], it sounds ethereal and beautiful! Also, [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is perfect, I wouldn’t change anything in that name!

So, some first middle ideas for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]:

Ophelia [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Irene[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]

and some second middles for [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]:

Helen [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Moon[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Frost[/name_u]

All of these second middles would also be options for whatever you choose with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] some of this helps: congrats and good luck!!

Ophelia [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f]* [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] would be beautiful! I do love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] with [name_f]Helena[/name_f] as well, perhaps even more than [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. If it were me, I’d probably go with:

Ophelia [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u] + [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]

  • I much prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f] to [name_f]Helen[/name_f], especially with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].

Agreeeed with your bullet point and I think those are BEAUTIFUL combos! Wouldn’t change a thing!!!

Maybe … [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_m]Lael[/name_m] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]

Helena [name_f]Mirielle[/name_f] [name_u]Ash[/name_u] (the tree)

I love tree names. Other ones include [name_u]Birch[/name_u], [name_u]Holly[/name_u], [name_f]Maple[/name_f], [name_u]Oak[/name_u], [name_u]Alder[/name_u], [name_u]Birch[/name_u], [name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m], [name_u]Spruce[/name_u], [name_f]Tulip[/name_f], [name_f]Acacia[/name_f], [name_u]Linden[/name_u], [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], and [name_u]Nima[/name_u].

Sounds like the names you’ve mentioned are all in the veto pile so I’m just chucking a couple of randoms out there.

Helena [name_u]Coco[/name_u] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] [name_f]Peaches[/name_f]

Helena [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Ochre[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]

Ophelia [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_u]Oleander[/name_u]

Do you have any names that you both do like to work with?

If we’re being honest for your sibset I agree with your husband. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] are excellent name choices in themselves BUT I feel both [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] both have a certain nature quality to themselves. Plus I’m
Not sure if this is what you were going for but they also both have a noticeable similarity to [name_u]Marian[/name_u].

For nature names it could be cute to similar theme types. Like two bird names, two flower names… the one syllable I’m finding hard but that aside I suggest:

[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Rue[/name_u], [name_u]Ren[/name_u], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Tulip[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]

Birdie, Raven, [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Eider[/name_f], [name_u]Sparrow[/name_u]

Pearl, Jewel, Ruby

Not sure if month names count as
“[name_u]Nature[/name_u]” but [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]April[/name_f] are also one syllables that could work

I do like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. They’re both popular BUT the rest of your name choices aren’t necessarily and it’s a double middle name so it all still sounds very original. And their familiarity meshes well with the familiarity of [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Crimson comes to mind as a possible less popular alternative to a scarlet.

I know a [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]! It’s a gorgeous name and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is stunning as well. [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] is okay but I don’t think it fits as well with your other beautifully named children. [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is so pretty too but I think I prefer [name_f]Helen[/name_f] over [name_f]Helena[/name_f]. In terms of the first middle names, I think both [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] are too nature related if you wanted a one syllable nature second middle name as well. Also [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is very similar to [name_u]Marian[/name_u]. I’d suggest a classic first middle name like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_u]Marian[/name_u] and then the continuation of the one syllable nature second middle name. Perhaps something like:

Helen [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u]😍
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Bee[/name_f]

[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_f]Breeze[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] [name_u]Cove[/name_u]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

Helena [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_u]Bay[/name_u]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Fawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Bee[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] [name_f]Star[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]😍
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_u]Dune[/name_u]

Ophelia [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_u]Haze[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Star[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_u]Maize[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_u]Jay[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

I’ve put an emoji by my favourite combination for each first name. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

Nature Name Ideas (tried to keep it to one syllable but some are more):

Here are some ideas:

Firstly, I adore [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] with [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]! I much prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f] to [name_f]Helen[/name_f], though. I think [name_f]Helena[/name_f] has a fresh elegance to it that [name_f]Helen[/name_f] has worn out over time, and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] fits better with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Fox[/name_u] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u] [name_u]Snow[/name_u] are such lovely names.

Secondly, I ADORE [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. I don’t think it’s too long at all, especially since middle names aren’t used that often. It’s just-- well, it’s one of the most wonderful [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] combinations I’ve ever seen! [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f], while having a nice flow, isn’t my favourite. [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] is also very popular, but I guess that depends on where you live. You could go for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f], etc.

I prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] to [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], but only because I think [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] together are a little too vintage. However, I love [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. I think it makes the name fresh, while still familiar! That could be a compromise?

For the second middle name, here’s what I can think of!

Quite a bit of great feedback here. The only other possibility that came to mind for me was to reverse the order with this set of twins and put a one-syllable name in the middle - because as another poster pointed out, [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] are nature names.

So for example…

Ophelia [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] & [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]

But - this rhythm is a bit trickier.

So playing with the names you already love, I thought about…

Ophelia [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Swan[/name_f] & [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Posey[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] & [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Vale[/name_u] & [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_m]Gold[/name_m]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] & [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_u]Sky[/name_u] & [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_u]Wild[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_u]Bright[/name_u] & [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f]

Ophelia is stunning, but I think [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] could be too long for a middle since [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] has 4 syllables. I like some of the other suggestions of [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] or [name_u]Ruby[/name_u].

I much prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f] over [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is really sweet, but I do prefer [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. Though if you were to go with [name_f]Helen[/name_f], I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] goes well with it.

Ophelia and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] are stunning together! [name_f]Helen[/name_f] is a little dated to me in the UK so would definitely lean towards [name_f]Helen[/name_f].

Ophelia [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is gorgeous and I agree I’m not keen on [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] as a middle name.

Ophelia [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f] [name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u]

Helena [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Fern[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u]

Hi I prefer [name_f]Helena[/name_f] with the A with rosemary so I think [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] sounds great. As for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] I think I would go for something dainty for the middle because [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is quite a strong, poetic name if that makes sense.
So I’d pair it with something like
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Tansy[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Posey[/name_f] and then perhaps a one syllable classic middle.

Ophelia [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Peony[/name_f] - I think this is gorgeous!

Wow, thank you so much for all the awesome suggestions. Haha, so many great ideas that it made choosing their names even harder!! And even caused some arguments with my husband to change his mind. Like up until the last minute in the hospital filling out the birth certificate paperwork I was trying to convince him to go along with some suggestions from here.

In the end we went with:

Ophelia [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_u]Sky[/name_u] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Rain[/name_u]

Thank you so so much for the ideas. If we were going to have more babies (and that’s a hard no), some of these would be in the running for sure!
