I am expecting twin girls in late [name]January[/name] of next year, and need some input and ideas on their names. I have 2 first names picked out, [name]Coraline[/name] and Stellaluna. Are these too girly? Too childish? Also, ideas on middle names would be great.
[name]Coraline[/name] is cool - it has the classic feel of [name]Cora[/name], a vintage name, with the added interest and charm of [name]Coraline[/name]. [name]Coraline[/name] can go by [name]Cora[/name], [name]Lina[/name], or [name]Coraline[/name]! However, Stellaluna doesnāt even feel like a name to me. It is the name of a childrenās book about a bat, and I still canāt get over the fact that [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Pompeo[/name] named her daughter [name]Stella[/name] [name]Luna[/name] [name]Pompeo[/name] Ivery! Iām sorry! If you like Stellaluna, why not use [name]Estella[/name], [name]Estelle[/name], or [name]Stella[/name]?
[name]Estella[/name] and [name]Coraline[/name] are pretty together, in my opinion! The middle name depends on the length of your last name, but I think something like [name]Estella[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] and [name]Coraline[/name] [name]Geneva[/name] would be pretty with a shorter last name, and [name]Estella[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Coraline[/name] [name]Rose[/name] would be nice with a longer last name.
[name]How[/name] exciting!
Iām all for literary names, but Iām thinking that [name]Coraline[/name] may be confused with [name]Caroline[/name], and with Stellaluna, I have to admit that I only think of a bat and the star/moon meaning.
I donāt know why, but while I love these names as book titles, I have a hard time seeing them on actual babies. Perhaps itās because Iāve never heard the names used on actual children, but for whatever reason, I only associate them with their book characters, especially Stellaluna.
(If you look in the āCelebrity [name]Baby[/name] Namesā section, thereās a thread on Stellaluna, because of [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Pompeo[/name]'s baby girl.)
I love [name]Cora[/name]/[name]Cordelia[/name]/[name]Coralie[/name] and [name]Stella[/name], though!
I love literary names, and in case you arenāt set on [name]Coraline[/name] and Stellaluna, you may also like:

stellaluna? thats the name of ellen pomei daughter> that would be like naming your child sparrowmadden.
I like [name]Coraline[/name] and [name]Luna[/name] they are pretty.
[name]Coraline[/name] & Apollina
[name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Venus[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Soleil[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Solana[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Solange[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Cosima[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Andromeda[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Cassiopeia[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Astrid[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Aurora[/name]
I agree that [name]Coraline[/name] & [name]Luna[/name] are really pretty together!
I donāt really like Stellaluna, for me itās a bit to much. But thatās just my opinion! I do like [name]Stella[/name] or [name]Luna[/name] though.
Maybe:
[name]Coraline[/name] ___ & [name]Stella[/name] [name]Luna[/name], and calling them [name]Cora[/name] & [name]Stella[/name]??
Iām sorry, but I just canāt get on the Stellaluna bandwagon, but if you like it go for it! I think [name]Estella[/name] (as suggested above) is a great alternative or just [name]Stella[/name] or [name]Luna[/name].
[name]Love[/name] carolaās suggestion of [name]Coraline[/name] ___ & [name]Stella[/name] [name]Luna[/name], and calling them [name]Cora[/name] & [name]Stella[/name]. I think Stellaluna is just too much as one name. I like [name]Coraline[/name] quite a lot
[name]Coraline[/name] is pretty, especially if you use the nn [name]Cora[/name] (which I love.) I personally prefer [name]Coralie[/name] over [name]Coraline[/name] but both are pretty choices. For some middles:
[name]Coraline[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] [name]Marta[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] [name]Luna[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] [name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] [name]Marie[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name] [name]Lauren[/name] (a bit L heavy)
[name]Coraline[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (really popular but I love this flow, especially with [name]Coralie[/name]!)
For Stellaluna, I just donāt see it. Itās too much for me. I like [name]Stella[/name] and I like [name]Luna[/name] but together as a first name, theyāre just too much. Stellaluna also isnāt the same style is [name]Coraline[/name]. Some middle names I cooked up with either using [name]Stella[/name] or [name]Luna[/name] as the first name
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Luna[/name] (this way you still get to use both names!)
[name]Luna[/name] [name]Stella[/name] (not as great of a flow as [name]Stella[/name] [name]Luna[/name])
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Brianne[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Luna[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Luna[/name] [name]Brielle[/name]
[name]Luna[/name] [name]Belle[/name] (you get the āellā factor from [name]Stella[/name] in)
[name]Luna[/name] [name]Ella[/name] (ending of [name]Stella[/name])
[name]Luna[/name] [name]Star[/name] (meaning of [name]Stella[/name])
For [name]Stella[/name], you could also replace it with [name]Estelle[/name], which I [name]LOVE[/name], and flows well with many middle names.
I vote with other posters here for keeping [name]Coraline[/name] and then substituting [name]Estelle[/name] or [name]Astrid[/name] for Stellaluna. Or, if you want another childrenās book name, how about something like [name]Coraline[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name]?
I love [name]Coraline[/name] (though i prefer [name]Coralie[/name] which is on my girls name list) and personally find Stellaluna bit of a mouthful - though they are your girls so you name them what you like.
Maybe for middle names you would like to go a bit more traditional as you have unusual first names (this is what i have done with my twin boys, [name]Oscar[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] and [name]Fintan[/name] [name]James[/name])
As well as more traditional, i think short names would be good to balance out the length of their first names. [name]How[/name] about [name]Coraline[/name] [name]Beth[/name] and Stellaluna [name]Jane[/name]ā¦something a long those lines.
Why not split Stellaluna into [name]Stella[/name] [name]Luna[/name]?
[name]Coralie[/name] etc sound rather sweet against the spunky [name]Stella[/name]. I would be thinking more along the lines of a [name]Kate[/name] or an [name]Imogen[/name].
sorry but twins named [name]Coraline[/name] & Stellaluna makes it seem like you are stuck in a story book ā¦
I actually donāt have a problem with the storybook associations, and I absolutely adore [name]Coraline[/name], however Stellaluna seems a bit much. All the Ls make it slightly hard to say, and it does mean āstar moonā, which seems like it might be overdoing it a tad.
