I wouldn’t intentionally give twins names that started with the same first letter but if those happened to be the names I loved then I’m okay with it as long as they’re very different from each other in every other way. (no [name]Kaylie[/name] and [name]Kylie[/name] or [name]Hallie[/name] and [name]Hayley[/name]) I think [name]Fredrick[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] are lovely.

Like the above poster, I wouldn’t intentionally do it either. If I love two names that start with the same letter, why not use them?

My only reservation would be if they sounded too matchy-matchy ( such as [name]Brayden[/name] and [name]Hayden[/name]) or were one letter or so different (a la [name]Taylor[/name] and [name]Tyler[/name]). Yours ([name]Fredrick[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name]), do not have those problems. I think their flow sounds gorgeous. [name]Felicity[/name] [name]June[/name] has really made me reconsider both [name]Felicity[/name] and [name]June[/name] myself! And I’m quite partial to [name]Fredrick[/name] [name]Daniel[/name], he reminds me of [name]Captain[/name] [name]Fredrick[/name] from [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name]'s Persuasion!

Congratulations again, and with your pairings you can’t go wrong!

In this case, I say absolutely go ahead. I really like those two names together!

I didn’t consider it for my twins, but I actually don’t mind it, really. If the names themselves aren’t too matchy, then it works. [name]Freddy[/name] and Fliss is adorable!

I don’t mind it at all as long as the names aren’t too similar. I personally wouldn’t do it but if you’re in love with the names then go for it. [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] are great together!

I don’t mind it if the names are very different in sound. [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] are really stunning together, definitely not an issue.

I agree with the above statement. If those are the names you love then go for it. They are both lovely and classic.

As a twin, I’m not one for matching names, whether they be rhyming ([name]Garrett[/name] and [name]Barrett[/name] - gag me!), starting with the same letter ([name]Madison[/name] and [name]Mackenzie[/name]), or even extremely themed ([name]Jasmine[/name] and [name]Ariel[/name] - oh!). Now, don’t get me wrong, sometimes names starting with the same letter just go well together, as in [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name] or [name]Gemma[/name] and [name]Giselle[/name] or [name]Samuel[/name] and [name]Sarah[/name]. But, if it were me, I’d try to avoid it - even though [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] make a nice set! Why? When you’re a twin, people always ask you (1) if you’re a twin, (2) who’s older, and (3) what your names are. And, guess what? People are (in general) expecting, if not hoping for, those matching names! I’m [name]Lauren[/name], my twin sister is [name]Sarah[/name], and you can’t even begin to imagine the number of let-down looks I’ve gotten from people who ask these questions and then aren’t so happy with the “non-twin” answer. As if we aren’t twin-y enough as it is without having names that match in any way! Ha.

That being said, [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] are a nice match. And, boy-girl twins face far fewer “twin difficulties” than identical twins as it is. And, if you love [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name] more than [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]Harriet[/name], who am I to stand in your way? Nobody - that’s right. But, maybe you might consider Lissy as a nickname for [name]Felicity[/name] - I say this partly because Fliss reminds me of [name]Floss[/name], reminds me of dental floss. [name]Freddie[/name] and Lissy are less overtly “twin” than [name]Freddie[/name] and Fliss, to me at least.

Best of luck!

Totally agree! I’m a triplet with an identical twin. We do not have matching names - I’m [name]Samantha[/name], she’s [name]Ashleigh[/name] - and in recent times, we’ve thanked our parents for not giving us matching names.
Our parents reply? “Being a twin is hard enough without having matching letter names,”

I answered “I would never do it”, as I know many twinsets with similar names who hate the confusion … having said that, if I really, really liked two names that began with the same letter then I consider using them both. I’d try to avoid it though, and I’d never intentionally seek matching initials.

I wouldn’t treat naming twins any differently than naming non-twin siblings. I wouldn’t limit myself to the same letter but I wouldn’t exclude names I love just because of a shared letter.

I think [name]Freddie[/name] and Fliss is a great twin set without being too matchy.

That being said, the first thing I thought of when I heard the two names were the two younger Bobbsey twins [name]Freddie[/name] and [name]Flossie[/name]. This probably won’t be a problem for new babies, but I thought you should at least know.

The Bobbsey twins were kind of like the younger versions of [name]Nancy[/name] [name]Drew[/name] and the [name]Hardy[/name] Boys. [name]Freddie[/name] and [name]Flossie[/name] were the younger set of twins. The older set were named [name]Nan[/name] and [name]Bert[/name]. I grew up reading my mom’s old children’s books and I think they did some sort of update of them in the late 80s that I read as well.
