Twins Update

Thanks for your comment! I think I am leaning toward [name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] as my favorite combo right now too. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband is the biggest fan of [name_m]Clay[/name_m], so we’ll have to talk about that more!

[name_f][/name_f]

I like some of your other suggestions too [name_f][/name_f]- especially [name_m]Barrett[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister brought up [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] today so I’ve been thinking about that too, and I like the “red” connection in the meanings between [name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Adam[/name_m]. Thanks!

I love [name_m]Reed[/name_m] with both [name_m]Brock[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]

(I’m going to try combining replies into one post [name_f][/name_f]- sorry, I’m still figuring out the best way to do this!)

[name_f][/name_f]

@VEL[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- Thanks for all the suggestions. I really like [name_m]Colin[/name_m], Hollish and [name_m]Corbin[/name_m]. The more I think about it, the more [name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Clay[/name_m] sound like a nature diorama and less like names for two boys!

[name_f][/name_f]

@Greyblue[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I’m leaning torward [name_m]Callum[/name_m] and Reed/Reid as my current favorite after all of the comments. There are definitely some names that don’t work with our surname [name_f][/name_f]- an example being [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- but I struggle to hear if some others work or not. I’m definitely on the fence about [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], which makes it not as strong of a contender. I appreciate your suggestions [name_f][/name_f]- I didn’t realize that [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_m]Roscoe[/name_m] were related to deer. Those are two my husband and I have discussed recently.

[name_f][/name_f]

@love.endures[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I’m glad you mentioned the discord between [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and our last name. It’s something I’ve considered and enough people have pointed it out that I think it’s something I’d like to avoid! I like many of the nature names you suggested, and also really like [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and [name_m]Jesse[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband doesn’t want the name of any “Bible main character” but some of these might be uncommon enough to please him!

[name_f][/name_f]

@Ehrob1[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- Thanks for your comment! I’m definitely leaning toward [name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] as my favorites right now [name_f][/name_f]- now I just need to get my husband on board [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Clay[/name_m] is his favorite right now!

[name_f][/name_f]

@somemelodioussonnet[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I appreciate your suggestions! Quite a few I like, especially [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], [name_m]Brody[/name_m], [name_m]Collin[/name_m] and [name_m]Everett[/name_m]. Thanks!

[name_f][/name_f]

@AmyVermeersch[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- Thanks for commenting! I agree about [name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Clay[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- the more I think about it, the more I hear them as nouns, not names. I like many of your suggestions, especially [name_m]Barrett[/name_m] and [name_m]Rowan[/name_m]. (We have a dog named [name_m]Orion[/name_m], so it’s out for a baby, but definitely fits our style!). [name_m]Asa[/name_m] has been a long time favorite of mine, and I also like [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] and [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], but I don’t think my husband would go for those. Thanks for your reply!

[name_f][/name_f]

@tori101[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- Thanks for sharing your opinions of the names. It’s been hard for me to describe what is a little unsettling about [name_m]Brock[/name_m], and I think harsh is a good way to put it. In theory that one is a good fit, but it doesn’t feel right. I appreciate your suggestions too! [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] have been on my long list for awhile. Thanks!

[name_f][/name_f]

@Frostivich[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- Thanks for pointing out the double letter in [name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m]. I love this kind of subtle connection, and it lets me keep the double “e” spelling I prefer for [name_m]Reed[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

@CMV2254[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] is interesting [name_f][/name_f]- my husband likes [name_m]Quincy[/name_m] and they feel similar to me. [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] also has a musical connection which I like! I do like [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], and how it feels so related to [name_m]Reid[/name_m] without being the same. [name_m]Heath[/name_m] is another one I’ve thought about, and I like it a lot, but I wonder if it’s too tied to one celebrity and the roles he played? I appreciate all the suggestions!

[name_f][/name_f]

@Kenny22[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- Thanks for pointing out the similarity between [name_m]Cal[/name_m] and [name_m]Clay[/name_m]. I think my current favorite is [name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m], but my husband prefers [name_m]Clay[/name_m], so maybe this will be a point in Callum’s favor! And someone else also pointed out about crayfish, which I had not thought about, but is a very valid point! Thanks for your suggestions too [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] would be on our shortlist if not for a close friend using it in the last year. I hadn’t considered [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] either, but I like that too! And [name_m]Micah[/name_m] is another longtime favorite of mine, but alas, not of my husband. Thanks!

I do think Reid (red-haired) is more classic & debonair while Reed, to me, more boho (as a nature meaning). But you may get less faff with Reed especially if you’re US based (an assuming you are) where phonetic spelling more common. Reed is a smart and polished name either way!

As for my twin insights, the broader point is that being a twin is great but it’s also intense at times. It feels like you have a marriage from the womb (but without the skills) and like you have to look out for each other in a way you don’t as much with “regular” siblings. The biggest risk of parenting twins is that you label them or letting others (teachers, family, friends) label them - eg the good one, the naughty one; the serious v the funny; the smart v sporty. I’d really strongly advise against doing yourself or entertaining it from others. Twins already think everything is a zero sum game - ie if my twin is excellent at sport, even though I’m very good at it and could probably be excellent with practice, I’d better focus on another way to stand out and so I’ll focus on my studies. I would read up on the mastery mindset and help your twins not fall into the trap of intrinsic talents and comparison. So if I had twins myself, I would go yes for equitable names of a similar style but not matchy or cute (eg same starting letter, or same syllables on purpose) as they’re already going to be so strongly tied together, I think it’s nice to give that space in their identities. I know this sounds super intense but it is just different being a twin so it needs an extra bit of thought from parents . I think you’ve got some great options. Happy to help with any further thoughts/ combos! :gift_heart:

Congratulations! [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Reed[/name_m] is so handsome and how lovely you don’t have to pick between [name_m]Callum[/name_m] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Clay[/name_m] do feel a bit much for twins…. I like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Callum[/name_m] with [name_m]Reed[/name_m], though! [name_f][/name_f] With your older girls, I think [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is my favorite of the two, but [name_m]Callum[/name_m] works equally well!

[name_f][/name_f]

Here’s a few other ideas:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] or [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] (also means dove)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Rowan[/name_m] (maybe a bit matchy with the R’s?)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Adler[/name_m] (eagle) or [name_f]Alder[/name_f] (type of tree)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]August[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Asher[/name_m] (means “happy” I think but the connection to Ash/ash trees is there too)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Forrest[/name_m] or [name_m]Forster[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Leo[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

Good luck!

Congratulations! I have twin girls and it’s the best gift. Seeing their bond fills my heart.

[name_f][/name_f]

I love [name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Clay[/name_m] it’s adorable. They aren’t too similar but also have something in common, which is a nice sentiment for twins.

[name_f][/name_f]

I also really like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. But I tend to love [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Clay[/name_m] because they are both from the [name_f]Earth[/name_f]. So so cool. But either way I love your names.

[name_f][/name_f]

PS First year is tough, especially the first couple months but it’s worth it.

[name_m]Reed[/name_m] is an amazing choice for a boy! For his twin brother, I adore [name_m]Callum[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. Unfortunately, after considering your surname, I would eliminate [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]. From your favorites, [name_m]Clay[/name_m] is a really nice option as well. [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_m]Clay[/name_m] would be a great combo, for example.
[name_f][/name_f]I would love to suggest [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m], [name_m]Galen[/name_m] and [name_m]Stellan[/name_m].

Ugh, my dream is twin boys!!! Congratulations!!!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Reed[/name_m]! Would you consider the [name_m]Reid[/name_m] spelling at all? (Just curious) Names I think go well for twin brother:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Reed[/name_m] & [name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reed[/name_m] & [name_m]Evan[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reed[/name_m] & [name_m]Aiden[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reed[/name_m] & [name_m]Cole[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reed[/name_m] & [name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reed[/name_m] & [name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reed[/name_m] & [name_m]Theo[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reed[/name_m] & [name_m]Liam[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reed[/name_m] & [name_m]Kyle[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reed[/name_m] & [name_m]Jace[/name_m]

[name_m]Callum[/name_m] and [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] are such great choices with [name_m]Reed[/name_m]! I think I slightly prefer [name_m]Callum[/name_m]

I LOVE [name_m]Clay[/name_m] and [name_m]Reed[/name_m] together!
