I’m consdiering using two middle names as a possible solution to my boys name dilemma. So the end result would be…
[name]Hamish[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
Is this wearable? Or is having two middles a bit too much?
I struggle with this too! I can never decide if two MNs is cutting edge or pretentious. For now I have decided not to use them. Since we are Catholic anyways they will get to add a Confirmation name later on which can serve as their 2nd MN, I use mine as an extra MN as does my brother. I know several families that have even added an extra name at Baptism. I am not sure about your religion so that might be something to consider as well. [name]Do[/name] you think your daughter would feel left out since she has only one MN? I think that the name itself is lovely though. It does not seem to heavy or overbearing to me 
Usually I would say two middle names is too showy unless it’s for religious or family reasons. [name]Hamish[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Michael[/name] is a nice name though and only slightly showy. I myself would probably just go with [name]Hamish[/name] [name]William[/name], mostly cause I’m partial to keeping things simple.
I think two middle names is completely wearable! I grew up with two family names in the middle and always loved having an extra connection to my heritage. I gave my son two mns as well, and we have never had any problems. It is something that is becoming more and more common, at least in my area, and I don’t think it’s pretentious in the least, particularly if the names honor loved ones.

Middle names are used so rarely anyway, that whether you have one middle name or two middle name, I don’t think it makes any difference. So if you prefer two middle name, go for it! But imo you will not get to see either of them used very much.
Personally I like the idea of using two middle names, I think your combo works well. It works a lot better with ‘softer’ names like [name]Michael[/name] for one if not both of them, I think it sounds less ‘showy’ that way
As the two middle names a quite simple and ‘normal’ I think it work great! Its not like you want to call him [name]Hamish[/name] [name]Bartholomew[/name] [name]Archibald[/name] - that could be over doing it somewhat

I love the idea of two MNs! It sounds so cool and just stands out in a very awesome way to me. At least in my family tree (and I’m sure in others, as well), two MNs was a common practice, and I know it’s fairly common in the UK, as well. There are lots of people who have two MNs, so even though it’s not as common as just one, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. All my children will have two MNs.
[name]Hamish[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Michael[/name] is handsome! I like how the traditional [name]William[/name] and [name]Michael[/name] balance out the unexpected [name]Hamish[/name].
