So… I like [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. I don’t want the nickname Prim (that would make me seem like a Hunger Games fanatic ) & calling her by [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] day-to-day seems too formal. IMO, this is one of the names that needs a nickname. So the only other nickname that isn’t a complete stretch is [name_f]Rose[/name_f], which I see as my only option.
But my cousin’s name is [name_f]Ros[/name_f]@nna, who we consistently call R0se. I know it’s not a bad association, but we are not close at all (although it’s not like we don’t get along), so she isn’t somebody I would like to honor, necessarily.
I think it works! When your cousin is around you could always refer to both with their full names
Another nickname for [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is [name_f]Posie[/name_f] or [name_f]Posy[/name_f], and I LOVE that, but I love the simplicity and elegance of [name_f]Rose[/name_f], as well.
IT would all depend on your family dynamic. In my family we have a lot of repeated names especially in first cousins once removed/second cousins. I know my cousins child has the exact same first/middle combo as me and really is not a big deal at all. You don’t usually ‘hang out’ with your first cousin once removed, at least not in my family. However like I said, every family dynamic is different.
I say yes to two Roses. Our family has two Roses that share the same first name. Similar situation with distance in age and relation. The fact that you would have two different actual first names is better IMO.
I think that [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is such a common name it won’t be a problem- [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is so beautiful and if you really need to clarify then you can just use full names sometimes! You can also use [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] which is super sweet
Firstly I absolutely love [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] such a gorgeous rose variant.
Personally I am a fan of Prim and don’t see the issue with Hungers Games nor make the connection to the Hunger Games. But I appreciate the concern with Prim being to hunger games.
So moving onto [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and your cousin I personally do not think that it’s an issue yes both names are a variant of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] but [name_f]Rose[/name_f] & [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names are popular so I don’t think people would think it’s an honour name or necessarily connect the dots. Furthermore [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] feels very different from R0sanna which I think makes a difference too. Personally I wouldn’t worry and use [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] nickname ‘[name_f]Rose[/name_f]’
It depends on the family, but my family has four [name_f]Mary[/name_f]’s, two [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]’s, three [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Richards[/name_m] (and three [name_m]Richards[/name_m] and a [name_u]Sean[/name_u]), three Jameses, two [name_f]Tara[/name_f]’s, three [name_m]Roberts[/name_m]… I say it’s not the end of the world if there are similar names and those names aren’t too similar imo!
I think the names are different enough that it would work. And [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/Rosie are common enough nicknames that it doesn’t seem like copying.
I don’t think that having the same nickname should make anyone conclude that your using it as an honour name, and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is so popular that there’s a thousand reasons to like it / use it. I think you’re fine.
