Randomly came across this name Ula today and was smitten with the beautiful meaning! Contemplating adding it to the middle name list as a possible way to honour my grandmother Ursula. Thoughts? Thanks!
Wow! It does have a superb meaning! I wasn’t quite sure at first as brain went to “ooh la la!”. I also just really like [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] (and Ursuline). But after saying it a few times. it’d be really pretty [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f][/name_f] especially as a middle. ![]()
I love how it works as an honour, but is also totally her own!
It does have a lovely meaning and I think it’s a great way to honor an [name_f]Ursula[/name_f]!
[name_f][/name_f]I wasn’t sure whether to pronounce it “oo-luh” or “uhl-la”, but it’s nice either way, and I don’t think potential pronunciation confusion matters if it would be a middle name anyway!
I don’t think I’ve seen [name_f]Ula[/name_f] before, but I really like it! Could fit someone sweet and quiet but also someone spunky and friendly! What a beautiful honor as well.
The meaning is so lovely! [name_f][/name_f] I was assuming it was just a diminutive of [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] (“little bear” is cute, too, though), but “gem of the sea” is really lovely! [name_f][/name_f] I think it’s a great way to honor a grandma [name_f]Ursula[/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] I also love [name_m]Orson[/name_m] as a tie to [name_f]Ursula[/name_f], looks a little different but has similar origins. [name_f][/name_f] But I would use [name_m]Orson[/name_m] for a boy, Ula/Ursula for a girl, personally.
I so wish I could use a -son name for a boy but our last name is [name_m]Olsen[/name_m] unfortunately ![]()
