My boys list just keeps growing and I’ve love your honest feedback to narrow it down! Last name is one syllable and rhymes with “[name_f]Jin[/name_f]”. Older sister is [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] (nn Vieve). Thanks so much!!
A lot of these I’d consider more classic than preppy, like [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. Those are lovely names, but I think something with a bit more spunk would fit with sister [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f].
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] - this sounds great with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_m]Bramwell[/name_m] - I like this. Nice nickname options too!
[name_m]Landon[/name_m] - really handsome and sophisticated
[name_m]Walden[/name_m] - cute, I like [name_u]Wally[/name_u] or [name_u]Denny[/name_u] too
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u] - nn Rett! love it
[name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] - this is a fun one, a bit more popular than others on your list
[name_m]Fraser[/name_m] - classy, I like
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u] - this sounds nice with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and is totally preppy
[name_m]Whitaker[/name_m] - nn [name_u]Whit[/name_u] is super cute
I narrowed your list a bit to the names I felt are the most preppy, yet uncommon names. I really like [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], [name_m]Bramwell[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], and [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] best.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] - although I prefer [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_u]Calder[/name_u]
One of my favorite preppy boy names is [name_m]Kensington[/name_m]- I think it sounds so elite and classy, but also has approachable nicknames like [name_m]Ken[/name_m], [name_u]Tony[/name_u], etc.! [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and [name_m]Kensington[/name_m] (Vieve and [name_m]Ken[/name_m]) sound lovely together, in my opinion.
Other options would be [name_m]Redmond[/name_m], [name_m]Raymond[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], and [name_u]Jamison[/name_u]/[name_u]Jameson[/name_u].
Thanks so much for your awesome feedback!!! I guess my taste spans both preppy surnames and classic names like [name_m]William[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. While I love the tradition of those classic names, my last name is one of the most common names globally so I’d prefer my son to not be one in a sea of others with the same name. I think we hit the sweet spot with [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - well established but not overly common.
Looks like the consensus favorites are:
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_m]Bramwell[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_m]Whitaker[/name_m]
[name_m]Walden[/name_m]
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u]
Keating
Yates
[name_m]Fraser[/name_m]
[name_m]Macallister[/name_m]
[name_m]Kipling[/name_m]
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] (classic-type name but less common than those below)
And the more common classic/traditional names (which I’d still consider but may lean away from):
[name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_u]Wallace[/name_u]
Thanks for the great suggestions! I also love [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] from your signature, but can’t use for various reasons.
I think @kala_way hit the nail on the head: lovely though the classics like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]William[/name_m] are, with a sister called [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and a short, common surname, I think you want something a bit quirkier. My favourites from your original list are:
[name_m]Bramwell[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Bram[/name_m] would be fabulous, but [name_m]Wells[/name_m] is very cool too)
[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] ([name_m]Law[/name_m] = so cool)
Fenwick
[name_m]Kipling[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_m]Forester[/name_m]
[name_m]Fraser[/name_m]
[name_m]Whitaker[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_m]Whitaker[/name_m] and [name_m]Bramwell[/name_m] are my top picks. And maybe [name_m]Kipling[/name_m] nn [name_m]Kip[/name_m].
