As I met my 4th [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] in as many months this morning I was started think about the other names that seem to be just rampant among my friends, neighbors, daughters classmates and family but supposedly aren’t “top names” or high on top baby name list and I was wondering what are the unexpectedly popular names in your social circles?
I have 3 [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]'s in my family/close friends and I know 2 more casually
I know 4 little [name_f]Mira[/name_f]'s, 4 [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]'s and 3 [name_u]Skylar[/name_u]'s
I know so many [name_u]Owen[/name_u]'s & [name_u]Max[/name_u]'s that I can’t even start counting them (my older daughter has never not had both an [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and a [name_u]Max[/name_u] in her class since her very first 2 1/2 year old preschool class and sometimes multiple of both)
Within the past year, three people within my circle have named their son [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. I have been so surprised by this!
I know far too many Camerons under the age of 5 to count. [name_m]Connor[/name_m], [name_m]Collin[/name_m], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] - If they’re not naming their son [name_m]Silas[/name_m], it’s one of these four almost certainly!
For girls, my friends seem to be right on trend. Tons of [name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. But I do know three Skylars, all girls.
[name_m]Forrest[/name_m] is one that I’m surprised to hear often. I’ve met a few little boys named [name_m]Linus[/name_m] and [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] too. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is probably one I am just realizing is very popular in my area for girls. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is catching on too.
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]/[name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] seem to be everywhere I turn, with little [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] following closely behind! At the supermarket, at work, friends of friends babies…
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. After I had an [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] of my own, I meet little Olivers EVERYWHERE I go… It’s not THAT popular (and according to the charts, my oldest, [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is a lot more popular than [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]).
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], I know about 4 of them who are teenagers like me, and one who’s a newborn.
[name_f]Hayley[/name_f]/[name_f]Hailey[/name_f]/[name_u]Haley[/name_u]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_u]Ashley[/name_u], I must know about 10 [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]'s now (or with some variation of the name)
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m]
[name_f]Becky[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f]/[name_f]Meghan[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]/[name_f]Tabatha[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Mikayla[/name_f]/[name_f]Makayla[/name_f]
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f]
[name_u]Dylan[/name_u]
[name_f]Tara[/name_f]
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]
I know so many AUBREYS/AUBREES! It’s ridiculous! As far as boys go, I know of three baby Liams born in the last few months. I also hear a lot of:
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m]/[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_f]Kinley[/name_f] and all the spellings for it
[name_f]Addie[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_m]Eli[/name_m]
[name_f]Lilly[/name_f] and all the spellings
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
[name_u]Jace[/name_u] and all the spellings
Three [name_m]Williams[/name_m], all born within the year. Three Lincolns, all born within the year. Three female “[name_u]Jo[/name_u]'s” on my street, a [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], a [name_u]Josie[/name_u], and a [name_f]Joelle[/name_f], all born within the year. Three male Josephs, all born within the year. Two Madisons, born within the year.
I student teach and in one of my classes there were three Julians. I was really surprised - I’d never actually met anyone named [name_m]Julian[/name_m] before and suddenly had three of them all at once. They liked it and called themselves J1, J2, and J3.
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Katie[/name_f]/[name_f]Kate[/name_f]. In one of my college classes - and it’s a small class of 12 - there are two [name_f]Kate[/name_f]'s and a [name_f]Katie[/name_f]. And I’ve got a lot of friends with some variation of it. [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Katie[/name_f] (short for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]), [name_f]Kate[/name_f] (short for [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f]), and [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f].
In my younger brother’s grade there is an [name_f]Izabella[/name_f], an [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], a [name_f]Bella[/name_f], and a [name_f]Belle[/name_f].
I know millions of Megans, Ashleys, and Brittanys. My fiance [name_m]Scott[/name_m] works with dozens of other Scotts. [name_f]Every[/name_f] baby girl in the area seems to be named [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] (though I’ve yet to encounter a single [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]) and every 5 year old is an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. I also know a zillion surname kids – [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u], [name_m]Donovan[/name_m], [name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_m]Connor[/name_m], [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], etc, etc. Had a quite a few Amandas too that were my age but I don’t hear it on kids much and I have multiple family members named [name_u]Andrea[/name_u] or [name_u]Nick[/name_u]. I guess those aren’t unexpected as they’re all chart topping names for their age groups but there you have it.
In Joelys daycare there are 3 [name_f]Kylie[/name_f]'s.
In [name_u]Arlo[/name_u]'s daycare class there are 3 Aidens, 2 Aidans and 2 Adans. All pronounced the same.
In play group there is a [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sofiya[/name_f] and amongst the kids of my fiances work there are 4 Charlies, 3 boys, 1 girl.
[name_f]Kinley[/name_f] for girls- I know of 3 under the age of 4.
And as for boys- [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]! When did this name get so popular??? I know 4 under a year old!
For me it’s probably [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] (I know at least 8)
I’m also hearing [name_f]Niamh[/name_f] and [name_m]Innes[/name_m] quite a lot recently and I didn’t really think they were that popular.
