[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] and calliope might be not be the easiest of names to carry.

You have wonderful taste ‘minxtruck’ - nothing like [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]- mine is due in a few weeks and has no other names!!
Of course there is that discussion about whether the name is the Medieval form of CHRYSEIS or Briseis - very complicated.
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f] -I love - [name_f]Callie[/name_f] is used as a nname. A poetry deity too -but I know quite a few (4)
Actually ‘gymjes’ I have been compiling a list for myself today. Our settled name for [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] due [name_u]Jan[/name_u] 2015, came unstuck and I have gotten a bit tired of going over and over my list so today i started at the top.
[name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]-Beauty Afro?
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
[name_f]Andromache[/name_f] [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
Mnemosyne - listen to ‘Howjsay’ for pronunciation of any of these if you are unsure, I have been a mythology buff since very little and i still get [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] with the wrong stress but i am practising.
Clymene
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] -there are a few around too, a lady said she heard a ‘MUM’ call the name to a small girl -was music to her ears- and now we have a newsreporter on Television and ‘hər-MIE-ə-nee’ just rolls off her tongue so sweetly.
I saw one member say she or a friend had an [name_f]Andromache[/name_f] in her class -I had to let [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] go and was thinking [name_u]Romy[/name_u] could come from [name_f]Andromache[/name_f]. I will terrorise all the receptions and clerks who can’t pronounce [name_f]Cressida[/name_f].! Sorry - [name_m]Just[/name_m] feeling a little frustrated but i am quite sefriously thinking of using one of these names, i think it’s high time they were ‘usable’ again.
Okay so I am biased and on my soap box but if you google Greek and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology deities , you will get the whole extensive list from Gods to Muses, and on…if you haven’t already.
Psamathe, one of the Nereids, connected to the beach, i liked that but i thought it sounded a little different to the correct pronunciiation.
Our Greek friend decided it was time to end the naming tradition and her first daughter is [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], and while its not the expected family name -I still said to her Dad, “but it’s the Greek Godess of [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]” - “No! No!” he replied -“ees Etalian,” Dad is Greek born and raised so he was mortified.
I forgot my Greek v [name_m]Roman[/name_m].
I think [name_f]Venus[/name_f] and [name_f]Serena[/name_f] Williams are terrific examples of using these names.
I’ll be glued to your thread,
Best wishes
