I’ve been trying to come up with some uncommon, but still pretty and normal sounding names, and I’d love to get some feedback on them. (I’m not pregnant, I just like picking names)
[name]Rora[/name] and [name]Ara[/name] - short forms of [name]Aurora[/name], but maybe the middle r makes them too hard to say?
[name]Dessa[/name] - short form of [name]Odessa[/name], I’ve loved this name since I was in high school.
[name]Kinsey[/name] or [name]Kinzie[/name]
Taylin or [name]Taline[/name] - I have cousins named [name]Taylor[/name] and [name]Katelin[/name], so it might be a bit to similar to their names
[name]Una[/name] - from the movie stardust, I like the way it sounds, no so much the way it looks.
Can you see actual people wearing any of these names?
I also like more popular names like [name]Ella[/name], [name]Lexie[/name], [name]Cassidy[/name], and [name]Morgan[/name] - I might use them for middle names.
I have loved discussing names since I was a teenager. My college roommate & I had many discussions about future baby names through the years. Now we are actually naming our babies, and it’s still fun.
I like [name]Ara[/name] better than [name]Rora[/name], but I secretly love [name]Rory[/name].
[name]Dessa[/name] seems more like a nickname (for [name]Odessa[/name] or maybe [name]Destiny[/name])
[name]Kinsey[/name] seems a little nicknamey & trendy.
Taylin/[name]Taline[/name] when I first looked at it read similar to [name]Talon[/name]. Maybe spell it Tailyn? I don’t know. It still looks wrong to me. It sounds better than it looks.
[name]Una[/name] isn’t my fav. Makes me think of first year Spanish: [name]Una[/name] camisa por favor.
[name]Hi[/name]! I also pick names just because I love it! And I’ve been doing that for several years ;D
I like [name]Ara[/name], as a nickname for [name]Aurora[/name] or maybe [name]Aracelia[/name] or [name]Arabella[/name]. I also like [name]Rora[/name], and I prefer it beyonf [name]Rory[/name]…
[name]Odessa[/name] is a interesting name and I’m happy you like it, but I really dislike the nickname [name]Dessa[/name] (i’m really sorry)
I strongly dislike the name [name]Kinsey[/name] as it seems a bit trendy and superficial for me, and I feel the same about [name]Taline[/name].
I prefer [name]Uma[/name] that [name]Una[/name], but I can see the appeal of [name]Una[/name], I also like [name]Ona[/name]!
[name]Rora[/name] and [name]Ara[/name] - I like [name]Rora[/name] better than [name]Ara[/name] I think.
[name]Dessa[/name] - I hear the more common “[name]Tessa[/name]”
[name]Kinsey[/name] or [name]Kinzie[/name]- I can’t break the association with the sex doctor, [name]Alfred[/name] [name]Kinsey[/name].
Taylin or [name]Taline[/name] - These sound trendy to me.
[name]Una[/name] - I agree that I like the way it sounds, but not how it looks.
[name]Rora[/name] and [name]Ara[/name] - short forms of [name]Aurora[/name] - Much prefer [name]Ara[/name] than [name]Rora[/name].
[name]Dessa[/name] - short form of [name]Odessa[/name] and sorry but it has that imcomplete feeling that a lot of shorter versions have. Why not [name]Tessa[/name] or even [name]Vesta[/name]?
[name]Kinsey[/name] or [name]Kinzie[/name] - Very trendy and unappealing. Sorry to tell you that Kin/[name]Ken[/name] names are not unique.
Taylin or [name]Taline[/name] - Neither name is my style and Taylin definitely has that trendy made up look of similar sounding names like [name]Jaylin[/name]. What about [name]Faline[/name]?
[name]Una[/name] - If you don’t like the look of it, perhaps spell it [name]Oona[/name]/[name]Oonagh[/name] instead. Same sound but different look.
I did consider [name]Oona[/name], but I don’t really like the double o any better. Thanks for all the responses! Looks like [name]Ara[/name] and [name]Rora[/name] are the favourites (or at least no one had anything bad to say about them). I think [name]Ara[/name] will be the new [name]Ava[/name] pretty soon.
goes back to coming up with names
A lot of the time, when I find a name that’s uncommon and sounds pretty, it doesn’t sound like a name. You know?
