Unique Italian Names

My husband and I are looking for a beautiful Italian name that honors our heritage while also standing out as unique. We love names like [name]Lucia[/name], [name]Sofia[/name], and [name]Olivia[/name] but all seem so overused and we fear our daughter will have several other classmates with the same name. We recently stumbled upon the name [name]Eletta[/name] and really like it, but wonder if it sounds like we are trying to hard to have a “unique Italian name”. We aren’t into nicknames, but think if we did use one it could be [name]Ella[/name]. What do you think of this name? [name]Do[/name] you have any other suggestions?

I love [name]Eletta[/name]! It’s beautiful and I think other people will like it, too. I also love the nickname [name]Ella[/name].

I like [name]Eletta[/name], and the nickname [name]Ella[/name]. However, if you are concerned about popularity, [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Ellie[/name] are extremely popular right now, both as names on their own and as nicknames. [name]Etta[/name] would be much more uncommon as a nickname.

Here’s a blog on the topic from nameberry: Italian Girls’ Names: Le tante sorelle di Isabella | Nameberry

Some from the list I like are:

[name]Aurelia[/name]
[name]Fiora[/name]
[name]Lucrezia[/name]
[name]Milena[/name]
[name]Romilda[/name]
[name]Tiziana[/name]
[name]Vincenza[/name]

Good luck!

One that popped into my head is Mietta (you could go [name]Mia[/name] or [name]Etta[/name] as a nickname). I think this name is so elegant. Good luck!

[name]How[/name] about [name]Alba[/name]? It’s my favourite Italian name and it’s rarely heard. I love the meaning of ‘[name]Dawn[/name]’ and ‘White’ and it also fits into many of today’s trends (Two syllables, soft consonants, vowel beginning and ending, ‘L’ sounds) without being a trendy name.
Best wishes.

I’m from a big Italian family so here are some suggestions I can offer…

[name]Amalia[/name]
[name]Dina[/name]
[name]Graziella[/name] (my mom’s name, and she goes by [name]Grace[/name])
[name]Elsa[/name]

[name]Just[/name] throwing it out there! I like [name]Eletta[/name]

I like Alessandra very much. My husband has an Italian side to his family and my favorite of their names are Jada, Viviana, and Marianella.

The only one I can think of not among these beautiful suggestions is Ciosa, which is rare and I think gorgeous.

What about Elita?

[name]How[/name] about [name]Eliana[/name] ([name]Elle[/name]-E-ahna) nickname potential of [name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Ana[/name] but it is easy to say and won’t be mispronounces as often as some of the other more unique names. good luck! Hubby and I are also Italian and have m[name]Ade[/name] tons of lists for future kids names sone other girl names you might like from my list [name]Luciana[/name],[name]Francesca[/name],[name]Angelina[/name],[name]Adrianna[/name],[name]Giulietta[/name](hubby’s fav and our #1pick right now I’d call her Gi, or [name]Gigi[/name]),[name]Elena[/name],[name]Tatiana[/name],[name]Gemma[/name], [name]Domenica[/name],[name]Alessia[/name]

Also another thought if you like sophia and [name]Olivia[/name] maybe do a variation of them to set the name apart from the rest of the girls named those same things, I was thinking [name]Livia[/name] or Anasofia just something else to think about!
