Unique names that you love?

I’m looking for unique girl names and every site I go to has the same 50 names. So, does anyone have self-made names or names that are truly unique that they wouldn’t mind sharing?
Thanks! 39.5 weeks

I’m always on the lookout for unique names! I really like Japanese names too, being a Vocaloid and Anime fan, as well as some more international names I hear in my school. Some of my favourites include:

Miho
[name_u]Jae[/name_u] (really cute as a second name)
[name_f]Eyre[/name_f]
[name_f]Elina[/name_f]
[name_f]Binah[/name_f]
[name_f]Zarah[/name_f]

@aliciamae - Jorina is beautiful! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know any history about it?

@flowermae, yes I do! I have always known it as a Dutch name. After looking it up online (they don’t have it on the nameberry database :(, I found out that it is related to the [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] family, and it means watchful! I think it’s such a pretty name, and I’m surprised its not used at all!

@aliciamae - thanks! Yes, I’m surprised it isn’t used more too. It is too pretty for me to just now be learning about! [name_u]Lucky[/name_u] you, to have such a beautiful name in your family!

I’m not great at unique names. Here are a few I’ve come across:

[name_f]Trula[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabra[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Eula[/name_f]

I’m wondering how unique you want to go? I know some little girls with some made-up names, but they’re not most people’s style.

Some ideas:

Evolet (I love the idea of this–I think it was created to be “the love” backwards, but they ended up taking out the “H” to look nicer. It’s been used in some movie, I believe, although I don’t know if it was created for the movie or not? Still, it’s a nice story!)
[name_f]Eleni[/name_f] (original translation, character for character, for the original form of [name_f]Helen[/name_f]. It’s pronounced eh-[name_m]LEN[/name_m]-ee, to my knowledge. I think it’s adorable, so spunky and so full of light, and I adore the nn [name_f]Leni[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] would also work easily)
[name_f]Arianne[/name_f] (I’m just a sucker for [name_u]Ari[/name_u] names, and this is my favorite. I think [name_f]Aurore[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelie[/name_f], and [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] are all pretty unusual and other [name_u]Ari[/name_u]- names, too)
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (has finally broke the top 1000, but still has that feel of names that are in-style right now, like [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], etc.)
Avelaine (My best friend named her daughter this a few years’ ago–it’s a variant of [name_f]Aveline[/name_f], I believe. I think it’s really gorgeous. Like [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] meets [name_f]Elena[/name_f].)
Esmeray (rare Turkish name. I love that you could get [name_f]Esme[/name_f] from it. It’s quite spunky, too, which I’ve come to realize I love in girls’ names–a perfect blend of princessy/girly and spunky.)
Adalet (another rare Turkish name I found a while back. I was in the midst of brainstorming a story taking place in Turkey, and I named two of my characters Adalet and Esmeray.)
Aderyn (ah-DARE-in. Welsh name, although I don’t remember the meaning. I think it meant a type of bird, like “wren” or “lark” or “sparrow” or something. I could be wrong, though.)
[name_f]Amapola[/name_f] (means “poppy”, which I think is lovely. I also love the nn [name_f]Lola[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] (love that it means “daisy”. So dainty and pretty!)
[name_f]Madelief[/name_f] (Dutch name meaning “daisy”. Obviously, I love the flower names!)
[name_f]Alastriona[/name_f] (Gaelic form of [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], I believe. [name_m]Said[/name_m] like al-ah-STREE-nah.)
Alvilda
[name_f]Amada[/name_f]/[name_f]Amata[/name_f] (means “loved”, I think)
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]-[name_f]Maja[/name_f] (Scandinavian double-barrel that I found a few months ago–I think she’s darling! [name_m]Said[/name_m] like [name_f]Ana[/name_f] [name_f]Maya[/name_f].)
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Annora[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonina[/name_f]
[name_f]Anwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Aster[/name_f]
[name_f]Aviva[/name_f]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
Beatriu (Catalan form of [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. It’s said like bee-ah-troo, which I think is adorable! I think [name_f]Bea[/name_f] or [name_u]True[/name_u] would be super cute nicknames, too)
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
Belphoebe
[name_f]Bianca[/name_f]
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]
Brynja (Icelandic name I love; I don’t even know what it means, I just think it looks funky and cool, and love that I’d have an excuse to use the nn [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] for a girl. I’m part Welsh, so I feel like I’d be committing a cardinal sin on my ancestors to use [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] for a girl, since [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] is so masculine in [name_m]Wales[/name_m] lol.)
[name_f]Bryony[/name_f]
[name_f]Capucine[/name_f] (I think this is adorable! My best friend used to babysit a little [name_f]Capucine[/name_f] nn Capu, in [name_u]Paris[/name_u]. She was the cutest thing ever! So unexpected but so flowy, spunky, and sweet. I love it. It’s like a spunky [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].)
[name_f]Cecile[/name_f] ([name_m]French[/name_m] form of [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] that I adore!)
[name_f]Clementina[/name_f] (love this so much more than [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f]
[name_u]Dagny[/name_u] (means “new dawn”, I think. Darling little spunky Scandinavian name!)
[name_f]Eliane[/name_f]
[name_f]Elida[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliska[/name_f] (one of my favorite [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] variants–said eh-LEESH-kah in Czech, but I also like the super-Americanized eh-LISS-kah. I think she’s spunky and adorable.)
[name_f]Eloisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] (one of my favorites right now–I love European-feeling, under-the-radar names, much like [name_f]Adele[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] are. I don’t know if [name_f]Adele[/name_f] is more popular than you want to go right now, but I think [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] is gorgeous, too!)
[name_f]Esme/name_f
[name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f]
[name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]
[name_f]Fenna[/name_f] (means “peace” in Dutch)
[name_f]Fiorella[/name_f] (“little flower” in Italian. I think it’s adorable!)
Fiala
[name_f]Florentina[/name_f]
[name_f]Garnet[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Giovanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Helene[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] (I also love the Finnish Iiris, but I love those Finnish double letters! I also love Eliisa, Eliina, and Aava!)
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] (not sure it’s terribly unique, but I still think it’s gorgeous! It’s a Scandinavian form of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], and, spelled [name_f]Caia[/name_f], it’s a feminine form of [name_m]Caius[/name_m], meaning “rejoice”. Either one is so pretty, imo!)
[name_f]Ksenia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Leocadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucina[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] (Italian form of [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]–I think it’s beautiful!)
Marienne (came across this one day at work, and I thought it was beautiful–maybe like a [name_m]French[/name_m] feminine form of the unisex [name_u]Marion[/name_u]/[name_u]Marian[/name_u]? I don’t know if it’s even a legitimate name or a made-up one, but I like it all the same. I say it mahr-ee-ehn.)
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirella[/name_f]
[name_f]Nadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Noemi[/name_f]
[name_f]Noor[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Odilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Ondine[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Parisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Paulina[/name_f] (not too rare, but I love it anyhow! I think [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f], etc., are all adorable nns)
Pasqualina
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f]
[name_f]Philippine[/name_f]
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Pomeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Posy[/name_f]
[name_f]Priya[/name_f]
[name_f]Raffaella[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]
Rhetta (I used to have a good friend whose little sister was [name_m]Rhett[/name_m].a [name_u]Jan[/name_u].e–I always thought that was so unexpected and pretty!)
[name_f]Romana[/name_f]/[name_f]Romina[/name_f]/[name_f]Romola[/name_f] (Similar [name_u]Romy[/name_u]- names that intrigue me. I prefer [name_f]Romola[/name_f] for the nn [name_f]Lola[/name_f], but I’m massively fond of [name_f]Lola[/name_f] right now!)
[name_f]Rosabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalba[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosina[/name_f]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]/[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Shoshana[/name_f] (my favorite [name_f]Susan[/name_f] variant!)
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybella[/name_f]/[name_f]Sybilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Wisteria[/name_f]
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Yasmin/name_f
Ysella
Ysaline (and the similar Isolina. I’ve met one of each, and I love both variants!)
[name_f]Zoelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Zosia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zuzanna[/name_f]

Hopefully that’s enough for now. I’ve tried to think of the girls whose names I’ve known that I’ve only known one of them (although I’ve known a LOT of people with unusual names, so that’s a bit harder). The ones I can think of off the top of my head are [name_f]Sarai[/name_f], [name_f]Mariela[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_u]Akira[/name_u], Ivelisse, [name_f]Bruna[/name_f], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], [name_f]Giovanna[/name_f], [name_f]Starla[/name_f], Jal!mar, [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f], Nadege, [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Larissa[/name_f], Vanina, [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], [name_f]Delia[/name_f], [name_u]Simone[/name_u], Clotel!se (she goes by Cloty–CLOH-tee), [name_f]Adella[/name_f], [name_f]Alina[/name_f], [name_f]Alyona[/name_f]/[name_f]Alena[/name_f] (I think a lot of times in Russian it’s transcribed to [name_f]Alyona[/name_f], but she spells it [name_f]Alena[/name_f] in English), [name_f]Milana[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Luz[/name_f], [name_f]Jordana[/name_f], [name_f]Ioana[/name_f].

Good luck! I hope this helps.
