Stylistically my favorite boy names could be defined as classic/timeless. My favorite boy names combinations are [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]*. As you can see the first names are very very popular in the US so I typically like to put less popular names in the middle name spot. [name_m]Michael[/name_m] is a new current love of mine. I’m quite picky with names so I’m having a hard time finding more unusual legitimate names that I like .
Some names I’ve thought of, but don’t quite fit: [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], [name_m]Perseus[/name_m], [name_m]Truman[/name_m], [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], [name_m]Conrad[/name_m], [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], [name_m]Phineas[/name_m], [name_m]Leonidas[/name_m], [name_m]Jolyon[/name_m]
Maybe someone can convince me that the names above do fit. I do love them, but I’m not sure about them with [name_m]Michael[/name_m]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] is quite popular, but in my 21 years I have not met one. Maybe it’s regionally, but it’s not popular where I live. I also don’t think it has the same feel as [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]MIchael[/name_m]. It fits stylistically more with [name_m]Alaric[/name_m]
I love both [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], and though your style is a bit more conservative than mine, I still REALLY dig it Good luck expanding your list!!
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] is a family combo that happens repeatedly in my family tree, but isn’t too conventional if [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] isn’t.
Oh no! I forgot to mention I like names that are at least out of the top 500. If possible names that haven’t made the top 1000 are even better.
I love [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], but just can’t get on board with [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] for some odd reason. It’s also ranked 15 last year so too popular for me. I love all the [name_u]August[/name_u] names, but I don’t like them with [name_m]Michael[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m], but [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] is too close to [name_f]Miley[/name_f] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m].
I love [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m], but as a surname only. It has a really cool sound to it. I like [name_m]Victor[/name_m], but my sister in law is [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].
[name_m]Leopold[/name_m] was on my list. I forgot about it. I’m not sure if [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] has the same feeling as [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m].
Adding [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u] on the long list for now.
I used to have [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] on my long list of obscure names until I realized I like it more for how it looked and no the pronunciation.
[name_m]How[/name_m] is [name_m]Caradoc[/name_m] pronounced?
[name_m]Zebulon[/name_m] will always make me think of [name_m]Zenon[/name_m]. I loved those movies.
I really like [name_m]Nicodemus[/name_m], but I’m not sure how usable it is. If I didn’t already have two Vampire Diaries names on my list I would use Niklaus. I love it so much more than [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m].
I’m not fond of X names and my younger brother is [name_m]Stephon[/name_m] so I would use a name with the same sound.
No you didn’t! [name_m]Even[/name_m] if I wouldn’t use them I love finding out about unusual names.
I found an interesting old [name_m]French[/name_m] name–Siffroid. If I had to guess, it might be a [name_m]French[/name_m] form of [name_m]Siegfried[/name_m]??
[name_m]Caradoc[/name_m] is car-a-doc, I’m inexplicably fond of obscure Arthurian names like that.
[name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] appeals to me as a middle but I’d never use it as a first as I find [name_u]Perry[/name_u] rather wishy-washy. [name_m]Nicodemus[/name_m] would probably always be [name_u]Nick[/name_u] if it was a FN but I thought it was okay in the middle.
I’m glad you were cool with some of my out-there picks. It makes me less shy! lol.
I do think [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] and [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] have nice flow.
[name_m]Jarvis[/name_m] will always remind me of [name_u]Tony[/name_u] Stark/Ironman.
I like [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], but it might be too much Greek with my name. Which completely sucks because I love Greek names. I prefer the sound of [name_m]Alastair[/name_m] to the sound of [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], but I like how [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] looks more. I’m also not sure about using another [name_m]Al[/name_m]- name. I don’t think I would ever use though because I love [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] so much. If I get over using another [name_m]Al[/name_m]- name I might eventually move it to the front name spot.
I do like other variants of [name_m]Michael[/name_m] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] so maybe [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Mikhail[/name_m]/[name_m]Mikael[/name_m]? [name_m]Michael[/name_m] Aleksander/[name_m]Aleksandr[/name_m]?
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] or [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Zephaniah[/name_m]
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Audric[/name_m] or [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Jeffrey[/name_m]
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Giovanni[/name_m] or [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Prescott[/name_m]
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] or [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_u]Carden[/name_u]
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_u]Jamison[/name_u] or [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m]
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Preston[/name_m] or [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m]
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] or [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Josiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] or [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_u]Auburn[/name_u]
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Kendrick[/name_m] or [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]
[name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] or [name_m]Michael[/name_m] [name_m]Sherwood[/name_m]
Aw, I like it too, though I prefer Ezriel and [name_m]Azriel[/name_m].
[name_f]Via[/name_f] wikipedia:
In Jewish mysticism, he is commonly referred to as “Azriel,” not “Azrael.” The Zohar […] presents a positive depiction of [name_m]Azriel[/name_m]. The [name_m]Zohar[/name_m] says that [name_m]Azriel[/name_m] receives the prayers of faithful people when they reach heaven, and also commands legions of heavenly angels. Accordingly, [name_m]Azriel[/name_m] is associated with the South and is considered to be a high-ranking commander of God’s angels. ([name_m]Zohar[/name_m] 2:202b)
I’ve known of Azriels who were real dudes, it’s not used a lot but I think of it as usable. There’ve been rabbis by that name, though, and that might influence my view.
And I’m quite fond of [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and Ezriel.
I’m a fan of the name [name_m]Michael[/name_m], as it’s my husband’s name. I think if we use it we’ll hypenate [name_m]John[/name_m]-[name_m]Michael[/name_m] as first name. Here are some suggestions for you:
