“Mayhem” for a name? For a boy or a girl?
I would only use it as a middle name. [name_m]Even[/name_m] then, I think it would be sort of cheesy (like parents who give their children the middle name [name_m]Danger[/name_m]), but not completely awful.
It could be cute as a nickname for a name beginning with [name_f]May[/name_f]. There are a lot of options out there. Mayfair?
I’m imagining a girl.
It also makes me think of those Allstate commercials with the Mayhem character, especially on a boy.
I think it’d make a downright awful name, especially considering the word’s meaning. [name_f]My[/name_f] boyfriend (whom is sitting next to me) says it sounds like a supervillan’s name.
No, to me it’s the same as [name_u]Rebel[/name_u], [name_m]Vandal[/name_m], [name_m]Maverick[/name_m], and other “my two year old is badass!!” names. In other words, it’s trying much too hard.
I’d never, ever use it as a given name or even a nickname. But the little girl who makes paper dresses with her mom on Instagram (blog: Fashion by Mayhem) is super freaking cute, so I kind of like it as a nickname in some contexts I guess!
