Struggling to think of any names that I love and all I suggest are immediately vetoed by him. Why is it so hard, the girls were so easy in comparison! I suppose it’s tricky to find something for a boy that’s a little different but not too out there and not super common either.
My favourite, and I’m not even sure I love love it would be [name_m]Xander[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m], dhs name is [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] so you’d think this would appeal to him but nope, think he’s going to continue refusing every name that isn’t the one he wants
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is nice, I like it better but it’s on my sister’s list and is a family name for her husband’s side. Typical eh!
It’s hard as I used to quite like [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] etc but they are really popular here and a lot of them don’t quite fit in with the girls names either…
What about Zekiel? Close to [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] but the cute nn [name_m]Zeke[/name_m]. Or Exekiel. Or Zekeus. Or even something like [name_m]Zakarias[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] with the nn [name_m]Zane[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]? That’s really cute! If you don’t like [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] I think any n name would work, and I think [name_m]Zane[/name_m] is handsome and a perfectly acceptable nn for any Z name! Or what about [name_m]Zander[/name_m] with a Z? Does hubby like that? [name_m]Zander[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m] is really dashing!
Like mousehouse’s suggestion of Zekiel or [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m]. [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] comes to mind too – would fit great with your gorgeous girls’ names (and it’s one of my favorites). You’re so right – boys’ names are so much harder and men are clueless about this sort of thing in the abstract. Hopefully when the baby gets here it will be easier for him to see what the baby’s name should be ( … or is he already here and I missed that part of the post. sorry, I tend to skim). For the record, I do love the name [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]/[name_m]Zac[/name_m], and I don’t think it’s horrible with your girls’ names. I’m in the US though, so it’s a bit different. For me, it’s an underused classic. Good luck!
I think at this point just throwing more names at him is just going to continue to frustrate. It’s hard to give advice since I don’t know you or your husband but here are some things that might be helpful. Let him know that [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] is off the table and let him know how you feel about your names constantly being rejected and that he needs to be more helpful in this. He can either be more open to considering your choices or offer some of his own. Offer him a list of name you like that you think might work for him and say he has to pick at least one from that list.
Thanks all, great ideas! I’m going to have to go carefully with this (as with other things that don’t get agreed on initially! Haha) sometimes he needs to think on how unreasonable he’s being or give something more thought without more frustration between us.
He didn’t like [name_f]Thea[/name_f] to start with but it grew on him during the pregnancy, he loved it in the end. My problem is I liked [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] when I was 15 but that was a while ago and have grown away from it. I just can’t imagine using it now. He did have a thing for Z names (because that finishes the story!) but there are very few I like. [name_m]Zander[/name_m] would be ok though.
I thought we’d discussed us needing to agree on a name together but don’t think he was really listening! I already relegated one of my favourites [name_m]Fox[/name_m] to a middle position because he wasn’t willing to consider it for a first name so I feel I’m being more reasonable in spite of the hormones!
[name_u]Baby[/name_u] is due in 6/7 weeks so there’s a bit of time, just hope he decides to compromise too.
I like [name_u]Max[/name_u] btw, and he does too though apparently with our surname it sounds like a footballer, I can’t imagine many people knowing that or caring though so it’s a possibility!
