I work in a bakery so I see lots and lots of names (mostly children’s) that we write on the cakes. I have a list of over 100 names, but here are some that stick out to me…I had never heard of ANY of these names before, are they made up or has anyone ever met someone else with any of these names?
Aalyshah- obviously I know the name, but not the spelling!

I’ve always appreciated having a unique name, but I think many of these go a little too far…
Is “urban name” the politically correct way of saying “ghetto name”? If so, that’s rather unfortunate. I know many urban dwellers who give their kids names infinitely better than these.
So, is anyone going to call out the OP on the fact that all the names listed, and these kinds of names generally, are heavily associated with the [name]Black[/name] community? As well as the fact that “urban” is an often-used euphemism for said community? [name]Just[/name] sayin’…there’s a whiff of racism about this post.
not racist at all…I wrote urban because I work in an inner city, which by definition is an urban area. plenty of these names belong to white people, actually. I think you may be trying to read into something that isn’t there.
Ivelisse also caught my eye. I know it’s made up but I still think it’s very pretty. It consists of two of my favorites, [name]Iva[/name] and [name]Elise[/name].
I think I would go with [name]Ava[/name] [name]Elise[/name] if I were her mom.
thank you hayley! no offense was meant to anyone, so none should be taken. I can delete the post if anyone truly is offended by my word choice. I just wanted to post some of the more interesting names I’ve heard of. We had a baby shower cake yesterday for twins boy/girl whose names are [name]Bentley[/name] and [name]Infinity[/name]…separate the names aren’t so bad, but together they are cars!
I work for a government agency, and I see names like this every day. It’s appalling how many people give their children ridiculous names like this. I keep a list at my desk of the crazy names I encounter (for my own amusement), and it’s much longer than this one. I can attest that it has nothing to do with race… it’s more about the education level and age of the parents, IMHO, although I’ve seen some parents who should know better still make stupid choices. The OP may be inner city, but parents in the country do the same thing.
