US Top Twenty -- Girls

[name]Sophia[/name] – I don’t like many (or any at all) names with a ‘ph’ in them. It changes the entire name for me. I don’t know why!
[name]Isabella[/name] – I would use [name]Isobel[/name]. Absolutely. But my 5 year old cousin has FOUR friends named [name]Isabella[/name]. [name]Just[/name] too similar.
[name]Emma[/name] – I’m tired of it. And maybe it’s just me but doesn’t this seem a bit dated? I knew plenty of Emmas growing up in the 90’s.
[name]Olivia[/name] – This is my name. I was born in the late 80’s and I had never met another [name]Olivia[/name] until I was out of high school. I like my name. It’s classy without being frilly and it has a bunch of nickname options. People call me [name]Liv[/name], [name]Livy[/name], [name]Ollie[/name] (hate this one, but I [name]DO[/name] get it) and one time I got [name]Via[/name] from a friend trying to be unique.
[name]Ava[/name] – I think it DOES age well. Classic and simple. But it’s just not my style. I’d never use it.
[name]Emily[/name] – Again, a very dated 90’s name. I know too many that are in their late 20’s.
[name]Abigail[/name] – No.
[name]Madison[/name] – I said once in a different thread that this was my #1 most hated name. [name]Even[/name] if it wasn’t so popular, it’s just not my style.
[name]Mia[/name] – 90’s? Anyone? No? [name]Just[/name] me then…
[name]Chloe[/name] – I love this. I might consider using it if it wasn’t so popular.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] – A nice, timeless, classic name. Never go out of style. But I like names that a bit more unheard of. This one has been around for centuries.
[name]Ella[/name] – I love this and might consider it. Again, popularity.
[name]Addison[/name] – Same problem as with [name]Madison[/name].
[name]Natalie[/name] – This is the only one on the list that I might actually use despite the popularity. I’d consider it.
[name]Lily[/name] – [name]LOVE[/name] flower names. [name]LOVE[/name].
[name]Grace[/name] – No.
[name]Samantha[/name] – [name]HOW[/name] is this name so popular??? It just SCREAMS 1987!
[name]Avery[/name] – It’s cute but nms.
[name]Sofia[/name] – [name]Love[/name] it spelled like this and might consider it.
[name]Aubrey[/name] – [name]Audrey[/name] is not so harsh sounding.

[name]Sophia[/name] – I like this name okay but would I use it…no
[name]Isabella[/name] – Like you I MUCh prefer [name]Isabel[/name]. I would not use [name]Isabella[/name]…especially with all the Twilight fans out there.
[name]Emma[/name] – I prefer [name]Emily[/name]. I would not use it.
[name]Olivia[/name] – I quite like [name]Olivia[/name]…love nn [name]Liv[/name]. I’m actually thinking about using this in the mn spot if necessary.
[name]Ava[/name] – I think it’s nice enough but not for me.
[name]Emily[/name] – I actually really like [name]Emily[/name] but it’s my cousins name so I’ll never use it.
[name]Abigail[/name] – Again…nice enough but not for me.
[name]Madison[/name] – in a word…NO. I do not like this name nor do I like nn [name]Maddy[/name].
[name]Mia[/name] – I prefer [name]Mya[/name] to [name]Mia[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name] – I think it has a nice sound but is too cutsey for me.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] – a lovely name…love nn [name]Libby[/name] or [name]Beth[/name]…but I have TWO cousins named this.
[name]Ella[/name] – I do not get the appeal of this one…at all.
[name]Addison[/name] – Same as [name]Madison[/name]…and I do not like [name]Addy[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name] – I love [name]Natalia[/name] but dislike this, probably because I don’t like the sound [name]NAT[/name] and the emphasis on it.–AGREED
[name]Lily[/name] – I’m not into flower names but this is nice. It was my great-grandmothers name ([name]Lillie[/name]).
[name]Grace[/name] – meh…not for me
[name]Samantha[/name] – I am not a fan of names with the -th sound in the middle (or end) it makes me feel lke I have a lisp.
[name]Avery[/name] – A name I don’t care for on either gender (and I like unisex names)
[name]Sofia[/name] – this spelling does not change how I feel about it…I prefer the PH though
[name]Aubrey[/name] --I prefer [name]Audrey[/name] but [name]Aubrey[/name] is my nieces name therefore it has grown on me.

In short…I would not use use any of these. Maybe [name]Emily[/name] if it were available for me and maybe [name]Olivia[/name] as a mn.

[name]Sophia[/name] – No. It’s not exactly my style but it’s pretty.
[name]Isabella[/name] – No. I prefer the -bel names to the -bella names. I like [name]Isabel[/name] more than [name]Isabella[/name], and [name]Annabel[/name] more than either.
[name]Emma[/name] – No. I inexplicably hate [name]Emma[/name]. Though [name]Emmy[/name] is cute as a nickname.
[name]Olivia[/name] – Yes. It is a nice name. I am a bit sad about how popular it is.
[name]Ava[/name] – Never ever ever. There is nothing I like about [name]Ava[/name].
[name]Emily[/name] – Yes. I love [name]Emily[/name]. It sounds graceful and dainty without being odd. I vastly prefer it to [name]Emma[/name].
[name]Abigail[/name] – Yes. It’s not my favourite Biblical girls’ name but I like it pretty well.
[name]Madison[/name] – No. Hate it, actually. And not just because its popular.
[name]Mia[/name] – No. It feels wispy and insipid.
[name]Chloe[/name] – No, it’s not bad, but it isn’t as appealing to me enough to get past comparisons to [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Claire[/name], or [name]Caitlin[/name]. (Other very popular choices)
[name]Elizabeth[/name] – Yes. I love [name]Elizabeth[/name]. It’s impeccably classic and very flexible.
[name]Ella[/name] – No. Well. Maybe. Maybe if its short for something…?
[name]Addison[/name] – No. It’s just ugly.
[name]Natalie[/name] – No. It feels very [name]Christian[/name]/[name]Christmas[/name].
[name]Lily[/name] – Yes. I love flower names.
[name]Grace[/name] – No.
[name]Samantha[/name] – No. If it were [name]Sabrina[/name], absolutely.
[name]Avery[/name] – Not for a girl.
[name]Sofia[/name] – No, if anything I prefer [name]Sophia[/name].
[name]Aubrey[/name] – No. I hate [name]Aubrey[/name] and [name]Audrey[/name] both.

[name]Sophia[/name] – I think it’s pretty and the meaning is nice, but I would never use it myself.
[name]Isabella[/name] – This one is slightly too frilly for me. I vastly prefer [name]Isobel[/name] and would use it to honor both my families heritage and my boyfriend’s.
[name]Emma[/name] – Use to be my favorite name and while I still think its beautiful, I’ve grown to love other names that are similar more.
[name]Olivia[/name] – Bad association.
[name]Ava[/name] – Pretty. I can see why it’s popular. [name]Don[/name]'t think I would use it.
[name]Emily[/name] – Boring
[name]Abigail[/name] – Pretty, but would never be used.
[name]Madison[/name] – Despise all names that end with “son’s” on girls.
[name]Mia[/name] – Cute, but I wouldn’t use it.
[name]Chloe[/name] – My boyfriend’s niece is named [name]Chloe[/name]. I like it.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] – Well I love this one but I’m just a little bit biased…
[name]Ella[/name] – I like it.
[name]Addison[/name] – same as [name]Madison[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name] – [name]Love[/name] this one, thought I vastly prefer [name]Nathalie[/name]. The French pronunciation is stunning.
[name]Lily[/name] – I adore variations of [name]Lily[/name]. [name]Lilian[/name] and [name]Lilia[/name] are both favorites of mine.
[name]Grace[/name] – Simple and sweet. I can see the appeal.
[name]Samantha[/name] – It was my first dolls name, so I will always have a soft spot for it.
[name]Avery[/name] – I don’t understand the appeal of this one at all.
[name]Sofia[/name] – I prefer this spelling but only if it honors the families heritage-- in which it doesn’t for me.
[name]Aubrey[/name] – Vastly prefer the classic [name]Audrey[/name]

[name]Sophia[/name] – Much prefer [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Sophia[/name] sounds a bit stuffy to me
[name]Isabella[/name] – Much prefer [name]Isabel[/name], and loathe the nn [name]Bella[/name], all [name]Bella[/name] names are overdone to me. I like [name]Izzy[/name] though.
[name]Emma[/name] – A classic, wouldn’t use but I like it.
[name]Olivia[/name] – I like it but not a fan of any of the nicknames.
[name]Ava[/name] – Prefer [name]Eva[/name], and it’s another name I hear everywhere.
[name]Emily[/name] – I like this, I knew a really lovely girl named [name]Emily[/name] which has made it grow on me.
[name]Abigail[/name] – Nice but I find it a little dated, know loads of Abigails in their teens/early 20s.
[name]Madison[/name] – Much prefer [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Maddy[/name]'s cute but don’t like -son names on girls at all.
[name]Mia[/name] – Cute but not sure how well it will age. [name]Maria[/name] nn [name]Mia[/name] would be my pick.
[name]Chloe[/name] – Ok, though again slightly dated to me.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] – A classic, would consider this with likely nn [name]Libby[/name].
[name]Ella[/name] – Sick of [name]Ell[/name]- names. Prefer to [name]Ellie[/name] but only just, it’s too close to [name]Bella[/name].
[name]Addison[/name] – See [name]Madison[/name]. Prefer [name]Adele[/name] or other [name]Ad[/name]- names.
[name]Natalie[/name] – Not a massive fan, feels a bit boring to me.
[name]Lily[/name] – Cute but again not sure how well it will age.
[name]Grace[/name] – Short and sweet.
[name]Samantha[/name] – Dated. [name]Sammie[/name]'s cute, but prefer [name]Samuel[/name] for a boy.
[name]Avery[/name] – Not a fan.
[name]Sofia[/name] – Prefer [name]Sophia[/name] spelling, the f just looks off to me.
[name]Aubrey[/name] – Hate the -bree sound in names, it grates on me like nails on a chalkboard.

[name]Lily[/name] is the only one that I would use, but it would only be in the middle spot so I’ve never been worried about it’s popuarity.[name]Elizabeth[/name] is my mn and my mother’s name so I suppose I’m a bit partial to that one as well. Most of the others are just too frilly to fit my style anyway so I never cared what they ranked because I wouldn’t consider them regardless. I am surprised to see that [name]Charlotte[/name] isn’t up there anymore, that makes me happy even though I still probably wouldn’t use it. =]

[name]Sophia[/name] -It’s alright. Maybe a bit too frilly for my taste.
[name]Isabella[/name] - [name]One[/name] that everyone seems to love, but I just can’t get into. The sound was never right for me.
[name]Emma[/name] - Pretty and timeless.
[name]Olivia[/name] - I just think of [name]Olivia[/name] the pig…
[name]Ava[/name] -Gorgeous, vintage…but wayyy too common. Ugh.
[name]Emily[/name]- I picture a small, curly-haired child. Very sweet, but dated.
[name]Abigail[/name] - [name]One[/name] of my favorite girls names. I would consider it, but it’s just too common for both humans and pets. :frowning:
[name]Madison[/name] - Really dislike it.
[name]Mia[/name] - Cute, but as a full name? No.
[name]Chloe[/name] - Ewww. This name has never rolled off my tongue well. It just sounds…weird to me.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] - See [name]Isabella[/name]. I know it’s a classic, but I just don’t like the sound of it (although I do love [name]Eliza[/name])
[name]Ella[/name] -Ok, despite how much I don’t like all the “[name]Bella[/name]” names, I do love this. But given how popular all those types of names are…no. [name]Just[/name] never.
[name]Addison[/name] - Ugh. Why is this name popular? [name]Addy[/name] is a nice nickname, but [name]Addison[/name] is not attractive to me AT ALL. Kill it with fire!
[name]Natalie[/name]- I really had no idea this was so popular, but I do [name]LOVE[/name] this name. Heck, I’d use it.
[name]Lily[/name] - Pretty and sweet. I do have a soft spot for it
[name]Grace[/name] - Timeless. I’m really tired of “[name]Gracie[/name]”, though.
[name]Samantha[/name] - This is my friend’s name, but I’ve never cared for it. Always felt dated for me.
[name]Avery[/name] - [name]Feel[/name] the same way about this as I do about [name]Addison[/name]. [name]Both[/name] would suit a boy much better.
[name]Sofia[/name] - I actually much prefer this spelling to [name]Sophia[/name] (the ‘ph’ just rubs me the wrong way), but I’m still pretty neutral on this name
[name]Aubrey[/name] - [name]Audrey[/name] is wayyy better.

[name]Sophia[/name] – I think it’s overdone and pretentious.
[name]Isabella[/name] – Twilight. Argh.
[name]Emma[/name] – Well, it’s my name, so no I wouldn’t use it. And while I don’t hate my name, I’m not overly in love with it either.
[name]Olivia[/name] – I really, really don’t like it.
[name]Ava[/name] – Not my style. It kind of sounds like a cavewoman’s name to me.
[name]Emily[/name] – Too close to [name]Emma[/name], and although it’s fairly classic I’m also not enamoured of it.
[name]Abigail[/name] – I feel like I should hate the look and sound of this name, but I really love it.
[name]Madison[/name] – Terrible.
[name]Mia[/name] – [name]Love[/name], love, love it.
[name]Chloe[/name] – Like [name]Abigail[/name] - intellectually I feel I should hate the way it sounds, but I can’t help finding it pretty.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] – It just seems unimaginative, like the name you compromise on when you and your partner cannot agree.
[name]Ella[/name] – Seems like a nickname.
[name]Addison[/name] – [name]Even[/name] worse than [name]Madison[/name]. And while [name]Madison[/name] sounded cool and even a bit elegant when [name]Daryl[/name] [name]Hannah[/name]'s mermaid used it, [name]Addison[/name] sounds like the poor-cousin version. It also sounds like a snake.
[name]Natalie[/name] – Pretty but bland.
[name]Lily[/name] – Absolutely beautiful, timeless, classic, and would wear well on any age.
[name]Grace[/name] – Seems like a cop-out name, and I hate the sound of it.
[name]Samantha[/name] – 80s flashback.
[name]Avery[/name] – Sounds like a birdcage.
[name]Sofia[/name] – I can’t help reading it as ‘Sofa’.
[name]Aubrey[/name] – [name]Way[/name] to mess up a beautiful name like [name]Audrey[/name].

Sorry if I’ve upset anyone…

[name]Elisabeth[/name] is on my shortlist, but I wouldn’t use any of the others. I might consider [name]Madison[/name] for a boy, as it’s a family name for me and also my middle name.
