So i’m from [name_f]England[/name_f] and I’ve always been interested in the differences in names between the USA and UK ([name_f]England[/name_f] specifically). So I picked out the most popular baby name for each letter according to NB’s 2018 list from both countries and included their popularity ranking. Which name list do you prefer and which names surprised you?? (girls edition)

[name_f]Zoey[/name_f] (29) [name_f]Zara[/name_f] (68)
That’s interesting! [name_m]How[/name_m] [name_u]Unique[/name_u] haha!! I’ve heard of [name_u]Unique[/name_u] in the UK too. Ironically enough my mum is a school teacher and once had two girls in her class called [name_u]Unique[/name_u]!
I’ll count ones where it’s the same name for each letter (such as [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] & [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]) as a US vote, as the US side is listed first
Yeah, I prefer the UK girl list too :)) [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] is really popular here actually, so is [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] come to think of it. Most people i know called [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] go by [name_u]Jess[/name_u] or [name_u]Jessie[/name_u] though rather than the full name.
Thank you for making this list, it is really interesting to look at. Overall, I like the UK style more but there are a few nice ones on the US list as well!
Just did the boys, where [name_f]England[/name_f]/Wales won out. Also won out in the girls but by a much smaller margin.
UK wins: [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Katie[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
US wins: [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Ximena[/name_f], [name_f]Zoey[/name_f]
Names I actively like: [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Ximena[/name_f] - so there were more on here that just aren’t favourites of mine on both sides.
