Which of these are usable or not:
[name_f]Adamina[/name_f]
[name_f]Gertrude[/name_f]
[name_f]Columbia[/name_f]
[name_f]Hester[/name_f]
[name_f]Phyllis[/name_f]
Which of these are usable or not:
[name_f]Adamina[/name_f]
[name_f]Gertrude[/name_f]
[name_f]Columbia[/name_f]
[name_f]Hester[/name_f]
[name_f]Phyllis[/name_f]
Not a fan of [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f], [name_f]Hester[/name_f] & [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f]. But I like [name_f]Adamina[/name_f] & [name_f]Columbia[/name_f].
I think they are all usable maybe except [name_f]Hester[/name_f].
I’d say [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] and [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] may still be a tad dated, and could still sound a bit too clunky to most people, but [name_f]Adamina[/name_f] and [name_f]Columbia[/name_f] definitely seem usable. [name_f]Hester[/name_f] is a weird one- I personally love it, and seeing as [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is becoming vintage and usable again, [name_f]Hester[/name_f] could definitely follow in its footsteps, but I know a lot of people really don’t like it and this it’s quite ugly. I’d say, if you love any of these names, they’re usable, but you’d have to be ready to hear some criticism about them.
I think [name_f]Adamina[/name_f], [name_f]Columbia[/name_f] & [name_f]Hester[/name_f] are usable. As for [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] & [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f], I find them so heavy and incredibly dated that I just don’t think they’d work to well on a modern child, so I’m not sure they’re entirely usable.
I think [name_f]Adamina[/name_f] is the only one that is usable. It is also very pretty and has lots of nickname options.
I don’t know how I feel about [name_f]Hester[/name_f]. I feel like it could grow on me and I would like to meet a baby named [name_f]Hester[/name_f], but I wouldn’t use it myself.
[name_f]Columbia[/name_f] is too out there for me, [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] is too dated, [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] has an obvious bullying potential.
I think [name_f]Adamina[/name_f] is usable, though I’m not exactly sure how to pronounce it. [name_f]Hester[/name_f] is quirky but usable; for some reason I’ve always associated it with fictional witches, maybe from something I read as a kid.
It’s hard to see the appeal of [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] and [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f], since they sound dated and heavy. Maybe they just need a little more time to feel appropriately vintage, but they come with a lot of baggage.
With all the people I know, [name_f]Columbia[/name_f] is already far too associated with a university, a powerful river and a popular sportswear brand. More problematic, at least to me, is that all those associations derive from the poetic description of the United States as the land of [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_m]Columbus[/name_m], and his legacy is definitely a complicated one that I wouldn’t bestow on a modern child.
All of this is exactly what I was going to say. Of all the names, I like [name_f]Hester[/name_f] the best.
[name_f]Adamina[/name_f] and [name_f]Columbia[/name_f] are pretty. [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f], [name_f]Hester[/name_f], and [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] are clunkers but have potential. I mean, I associated [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] with middle-aged women until I met an adorable little girl named [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]. All of a sudden [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] felt fresh and cute on a little one.
I agree that [name_f]Adamina[/name_f] is the only usable one. It’s unique but not too out their. Unfortunately the other names just seem a tad too out there for my taste. [name_f]Adamina[/name_f] is lovely though and you could use either [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Mina[/name_f], or [name_f]Amina[/name_f] as a nickname!
I think all of them except [name_f]Columbia[/name_f] are usable. [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f], [name_f]Hester[/name_f] and [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] are well known names, they may feel dated to some people but I’d just call them vintage! [name_f]Adamina[/name_f] is a new name to me but it has similar sounds (ada, mina) to other well known names and I find it perfectly usable. [name_f]Columbia[/name_f] is obviously a place name and I can’t see it on a person… maybe as a middle name. It’s just not my cup of tea, I guess.
