[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] is usable in todays world?
What nicknames would you give him besides [name_m]Bart[/name_m]?

I’m on the fence with this one. [name_m]Archibald[/name_m], [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] and [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] are similarly questionable because…well, they just sound very old and somewhat funny (I love [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] btw). I think it would go best in the middle. [name_u]Berry[/name_u] is the only other nickname I can think of at the moment.
There was a young guy called [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] on a quiz show I was watching, and he used it in full. I think it’s usable, especially out loud, it’s got the same amount of syllables as [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. For nicknames, I like Tol, Tolly, maybe even Mew, for a small child. I love [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m]!
I love it, and yes, I think it’s usable.
With names like [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m] and [name_m]Nehemiah[/name_m] being in regular use, I don’t think [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] is out of place among these names at all.
I would use the nn Tolly.
[name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] would lend itself to nn [name_m]Lew[/name_m]/[name_u]Lou[/name_u] as well.
I wouldn’t use it myself but I dont see why it wouldn’t be usable. As for nicknames, [name_m]Bart[/name_m] isn’t my style but I loveee [name_u]Lou[/name_u] on a boy!!
Yes, it is usable but hard to pull off in my opinion.
It’s a very long and quite heavy name, I find these to be very full of character and only fitting for certain personalities.
Maybe the image would fade if I met one and instead of the boy I picture, a shy bookworm who spends most of his time reading in the towns old library or playing with vintage toys and trains, he turns out to be the famous quarterback at his high school.
Aww!!! I can see a [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] being that!
Yes, I think it is usable. In fact I know one! He goes by [name_m]Art[/name_m]/[name_m]Artie[/name_m] in his family (although his mother only calls him [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m]). In our circle he goes by Bath or Battie, but I also know he goes by [name_u]Lou[/name_u] and [name_m]Rolo[/name_m]/Tholo. He is a man on many nicknames
Nicknames: [name_u]Ollie[/name_u], [name_m]Art[/name_m], [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_m]Louie[/name_m], [name_m]Hal[/name_m], [name_m]Lenny[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_m]Bram[/name_m], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Milo[/name_m]…
Not all of these are obvious but the sounds are there or the letters are there too if you mix them up a bit.
