Our first daughter’s name came so easily to us. Her name is [name_f]Elena[/name_f].
We are now pregnant with daughter #2 and have hit complete roadblocks. We are looking for something recognizable, but not incredibly common or trendy and very strong, but not too girly.
Please provide your honest feedback (good, bad and ugly) on [name_f]Valerie[/name_f].
I really like [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]! Honestly, I get the strong, feminine, beautiful vibe from this name (same as [name_f]Elena[/name_f]). It’s one of those names that’s just flying under the radar for some reason, and that makes it a gem in my eyes!
If it feels right, then in my opinion you’ve already found exactly what you’re looking for =]
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f] reads as a bit dated to me, but that might just be because i only met [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]'s in my childhood. [name_f]Valeria[/name_f] sounds cooler/stronger to me
I used to hate it, but I must admit that I have come to find [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] as very pretty! It feels very vintage to me, honestly. The only thing I don’t care for about it is the nn [name_u]Val[/name_u]…I grew up watching reruns of The [name_f]Nanny[/name_f], so can just hear [name_u]Fran[/name_u] Drescher’s rather unique voice going “Vaaaaaallllll!” I think that nn is probably hard to avoid, which is a shame, because a relatively short and beautiful name like [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] doesn’t even need a nickname.
I love the name [name_f]Valerie[/name_f], but I’m biased, as it’s my grandmother’s name, and I’m very close to her. I think it’s rather timeless and very sweet. It also fits perfectly with [name_f]Elena[/name_f] imo.
