Valkyrie,Freya or something else?

Wife is 35 weeks and we have narrowed it down to [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] or Valkyrie [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]…what do yall think? Or should we find something different? If so what else can you suggest with that middle name?

[name_f]Freya[/name_f]. A valykrie is a thing/job/calling, not a name to me.

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] is nice. I don’t love it with [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], but that’s apparently non-negotiable. Middles don’t matter that much in my opinion, anyway. Valkyrie gets an absolute no from me. No person could pull that off as a name.

I like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] better.

I actually have Valkyrie on my gp list! I think it would be a hard name to pull off/be taken seriously unfortunately- though the sound and history are very cool. Honestly I would be thrilled to meet a Valkyrie- but most people aren’t name nerds like us. Can’t loose with [name_f]Freya[/name_f]

I don’t know how popular [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is where you are, but it’s in the Top 20 in the UK right now which might put me off, as it feels a bit less special. Valkyrie I’m not sure about - there’s always [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]? Are you looking for a Norse connection? [name_f]Freya[/name_f] probably is the prettiest Norse goddess name. Maybe [name_f]Saga[/name_f] or Sif? Or some of the Valkyrie names (according to wikipedia, I’m no expert): [name_f]Kara[/name_f], [name_f]Eir[/name_f], Mist, [name_f]Hilda[/name_f]?

Or [name_f]Asta[/name_f]! I really like this one!

Valkyrie, wouldn’t be hard to pull it off as a name.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Freya[/name_f]! I think Valkyrie would be a but hard to pull off.

[name_f]Freya[/name_f], lacey and sweet. Valkyrie should be kept as a mn. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] Valkyrie is gorgeous!

I love Valkyrie so much, I do, though I think it would work much better as a middle. I adore [name_f]Freya[/name_f] (prefer Freyja myself) too, so of course she gets my vote - she’s gorgeous!

I actually prefer Valkyrie over [name_f]Freya[/name_f]. I don’t think it’s a tough name to pull off. Besides it’s the person that makes the name not the other way round.

Here in the US its barely in the top 1000.

We knocked of Valkyrie as a first name So its [name_f]Freya[/name_f] now. I THOUGHT we were using [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] as a way to honor my [name_f]MIL[/name_f] [name_f]Linda[/name_f] but wife says we weren’t using it to honor her! LOL…ok so was confused so back to drawing board on middle name and I love Valkyrie but wife wants baby to have a more NORMAL middle name

So now to find a middle name for [name_f]Freya[/name_f].

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] has a better flow. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is a beautiful name.
I know you love Valkyrie, but I think your daughter might not appreciate it. [name_u]Val[/name_u] is sassy though. I love [name_u]Val[/name_u], but personally, I would chose [name_f]Valerie[/name_f] or [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] over Valkyrie. A grown woman named Valkyrie at birth, will probably only want to be called [name_u]Val[/name_u]. She might not want people to know it is short for Valkyrie. I just can’t picture anyone saying: Valkyrie, do your homework or Valkyrie, eat your peas. Then, later in life, Valkyrie, please file this report, etc. Have you considered just [name_u]Kyrie[/name_u]? It might get confused for [name_f]Carrie[/name_f], but it is different, if different is what you are looking for.

So now a middle name for [name_f]Freya[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any idea what your wife deems a more normal name, as you say? It’d be good to have some feeling of your style. (Clearly, there is a love of Norse, fantastic sorts of name coming from someone–the Valkyrie were virginal, female beings who, depending on which story/poem in the old Norse tradition can either be loving, helpful creatures who helped choose which warriors would fall in battle, and guide those chosen to Valhalla–[name_m]Odin[/name_m]'s house of the dead–or they were sometimes depicted as darker, more sinister beings who used the intestines of the fallen to weave the fortunes of others. ) If I may, I would suggest closing this thread and opening a new one specifically asking for middle names just for [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and giving some ideas of what you and your wife are or are not looking for—most contributors aren’t going to read all the posts and realize that’s what you now need. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought!

If you like Valkryie because it started with a V, here are some suggestions:

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Vashti[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Victoire[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Violaine[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]

If you wanted something that was Scandinavian, try authentic names like:

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Idony[/name_f] / [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Idonea[/name_f] (Both are actually the English variation of the Norse goddess Idunn)
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] (popular in [name_u]Sweden[/name_u] right now)
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Pernille[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Sigrid[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helped! If you have anything more specific, that would great!

I like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], Valkyrie is bizarre.

I like [name_f]Freya[/name_f] as a name more, but Valkyrie [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] seems fiercer and it flows better.
