So in my mom’s family, the first born girl always has a variant of the name [name_f]Sue[/name_f] as their middle name. I am the fourth generation (my middle name is Suzanne) and my mother and grandmother are very set on me keeping it going.
The problem is, I really strongly dislike the name [name_f]Sue[/name_f] and every variant of it. I have disliked my middle name for as long as I can remember, and I haven’t told my family, of course, but I just haven’t found any name that sounds appealing. I suggested maybe using [name_f]Lily[/name_f] instead (Sue means Lily) but they rejected it. [name_f]Sanne[/name_f] is the best one I found so far but it just seems slightly off to me.
Anyway, I decided to come here so that all of you namers could help me find some creative variants. I’m not having kids ANY time soon, but I’m just brainstorming names. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any suggestions?
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is my personal favorite!
Perhaps a double name with [name_f]Sue[/name_f] as the second? [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Sue[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Sue[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Susan[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Susie[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]?
Some other stretchy ideas with [name_f]Sue[/name_f] in them:

[name_f]Suri[/name_f] / Surrey
[name_f]Consuela[/name_f]
Emisue (An invented one I think is just so sweet.)

@snowmaiden I haven’t considered double middles, thank you for the idea! [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Susie[/name_f] is a delightful combo. I also love [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f], [name_f]Sunday[/name_f], [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u], [name_f]Suri[/name_f], amd Emisue. Thank you!
If you’re into Indonesia, Sulawesi (my grandparents went there when I was a child and I always thought it would make a really great name).
I do actually like [name_f]Susan[/name_f], due to a few of known being awesome people and also Dusan from Discworld and [name_f]Susan[/name_f] from [name_u]Adventure[/name_u] Time.
Also Black-Eyed Susans, the flowers, are quite lovely.
I love [name_f]Sanne[/name_f], or maybe the [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] spelling would appeal? [name_f]Shoshana[/name_f], [name_f]Sosie[/name_f], Suki/Sukie, [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], and [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] are some of my favorites in this family of names!
@river_dweller I hadn’t thought of anything like [name_f]Ursula[/name_f], thank you!
@fiddlesticks I like [name_f]Sudie[/name_f]! and I love [name_f]Sussie[/name_f] but i agree that it might not work for kids these days lol.

@moonkai Sulawesi is cute, but not really my style, although I think [name_f]Sula[/name_f] by itself would be cute! And I do love the associations with the name [name_f]Susan[/name_f] but something about it doesn’t sit right with me lol. Thank you!
@Greyblue [name_u]Rue[/name_u] is one of my favorites, I hope flies! I like [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] and [name_f]Sula[/name_f], thank you!

@arlamarie101 I absolutely love [name_u]Josie[/name_u] but I’m not sure how much my family would lol. [name_f]Suzie[/name_f] is cute but for some reason I can’t get behind it as a middle name. Thank you though!!
@judy.newstead I love [name_f]Sosie[/name_f] and [name_f]Susie[/name_f] but again, I am not sure how they would fit as a middle name. I love Zusia though! Thank you!
@dandy_orchid I love [name_f]Sanna[/name_f], thank you!
@Kipperbo1 [name_f]Zsuzsa[/name_f] is adorable, thanks!!
[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] → [name_f]Sue[/name_f] because Isabeau
I read “Beau” as “Bue” (isn’t it how you should read it?Correct me if I am wrong, I read that as this since years already and I definitely do not know [name_u]French[/name_u] well) If you say [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] quickly it’s like “IsaBUE-> SUE”
