Tentatively learned that I’ll be having a girl yesterday. I’ll be naming her after my late mother, [name]Kathy[/name]. We are most probably going to go with the Greek informal [name]Katerina[/name] (formally [name]Ekaterini[/name], but we wouldn’t put it on the birth certificate). I’m wondering how many variations and nicknames for [name]Katherine[/name] we can come up with! It’s such a beautiful name ad so popular in many parts of the world.

My grandmother’s name is [name]Katharine[/name], and she goes by [name]Kit[/name].
My favorite is [name]Katja[/name]. Also, [name]Catriona[/name] is lovely.

I love [name]Catalina[/name], but I think that [name]Katherine[/name] with the nickname [name]Kit[/name] is my favorite. I dislike the nickname [name]Cat[/name] for some reason.
I like [name]Cat[/name] and [name]Kitty[/name] as NNs but I’m also very fond of [name]Reina[/name] and have considered using [name]Reina[/name] directly.
[name]Kathleen[/name] and [name]Caitlin[/name] would be more of a callback to my husband’s side of the family, and [name]Reina[/name] or [name]Katia[/name]/[name]Ekaterina[/name] more of a callback to mine.
[name]Kay[/name] is a NN I find vintage but appealing. I have never met a baby [name]Kay[/name]. It has some of the '20s flapper feel to me of [name]Nora[/name] or [name]Ruby[/name] without the rebound in popularity.
