I am contemplating honoring someone named [name]Stanley[/name],in the mn spot. Problem is the name [name]Stanley[/name]! I’ve come up with these variations. What do you think of them? Am I missing anything. Would you just go with [name]Stanley[/name]? It’s still too crusty for me and I would rather use something a bit more creative. Thanks for any thoughts.
[name]Stanton[/name]
[name]Stanislas[/name]/v (surprised to see this is only charting in [name]France[/name]!)
[name]Constantine[/name]
Stanza (appeals to me for boy or girl in the middle)
[name]Stan[/name] (blah)
[name]Stas[/name] (diminutive of [name]Stanislav[/name])
[name]Stanford[/name] (too University for me)
[name]Stellan[/name] (love it, has the stan letters but seems a bit of a stretch)
I like [name]Stanislas[/name] for its European flair, [name]Constantine[/name] for its majestic strength and [name]Stanton[/name] for its contemporary sound (this name would give you an “[name]Ivy[/name] League” sound without the university association like the the similar [name]Stanford[/name]).
I like quite a few of these! Particularly [name]Constantine[/name] and [name]Stanislas[/name]. [name]Stanton[/name] is cute, too, and sounds very American to me, via [name]Edwin[/name] [name]Stanton[/name]. I think [name]Stas[/name] is interesting and I like it a lot, but he was the bad guy on the pilot of my favorite TV show, lol, so I really can’t get past that enough to actually use it for my own child. :*(
Not sure how brave you’re willing to go ([name]Stanislas[/name] and [name]Constantine[/name] seem pretty brave, though!), but maybe Standish? I don’t think it could work as a FN, but maybe as a MN, especially if you’re very into the colonization of the United States, haha.
I like [name]Constantine[/name] and [name]Stellan[/name] a lot. Sure, [name]Stellan[/name] is a little bit of a stretch, but being that there’s only one different letter than [name]Stanley[/name], I think it would be a cool way to honor him. The only additional name I can think of is [name]Tristan[/name].
Thank you for the helpful opinions and suggestions.
jesba, I really like [name]Tristan[/name], but we already know a little 5yr old [name]Tristan[/name], whose family we are close with. But I like [name]Thorstan[/name] & it is something to think about.
thetxbelle, Faustin fits very well as [name]Stanley[/name]'s father was [name]Faust[/name], although it’s a difficult name due to the story of [name]Faust[/name]. Still my SO loves the slight variation Faustin for a boy or [name]Faustine[/name] for a mn for a girl.
