Not pregnant yet, but trying to figure out which girl name I like best. Sorry for long post.
I love the name [name]Veronica[/name] because of the international sound, the positive meaning and the lovely flower ([name]Veronica[/name] longifolia). Plus it combines our own initials (O and A). Husband has vetoed [name]Caroline[/name].
Reasons for not being able to use [name]Veronica[/name] as a first name:
It is the name of a popular Radio/TV station (jingles known to all ages) with magazine called [name]Veronica[/name] too
Too long as fn. Where I live new born kids have very short names (4 letters is more on trend than 4 syllables)
and our last name is already long with 3 syllables.
We do not want to use [name]Veronica[/name] on the birth cert. shorten it to [name]Vera[/name], [name]Ronja[/name] or [name]Nicky[/name]
Now we have to think of a shorter first name to go with [name]Veronica[/name] and our last name, that we love as much.
Names we thought of like Esmé(e), [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Sophie[/name] are too popular (top 10-20) choices here and Esmé(e) has several popular spellings.
[name]Do[/name] not want a spelling that has to be explained all the time. Prefer to avoid first names that start with C, F, K or P or end in -a.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] in its own right, but [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Veronica[/name] sounds too much [name]Ro[/name] [name]Ro[/name] to me. Also Radio [name]Veronica[/name] comes to mind.
[name]Irene[/name] [name]Veronica[/name] is my current fave, [name]Irene[/name] with 3 syl. pron. (like the Spanish version) but unsure about it.
Maybe our last name is too long for two middles, but what do you think of
[name]Irene[/name] [name]Stella[/name] [name]Veronica[/name] K
[name]Irene[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name] [name]Veronica[/name] K ([name]Sylvia[/name] is a family name)
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Stella[/name] [name]Veronica[/name] K
[name]Rosalie[/name] Esmé [name]Veronica[/name] K
Sorry again for long post, hope you like some of the names I came up with or have some lovely suggestions.
Thanks!!
I like [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Veronica[/name]… [name]Rosalie[/name] Esmé [name]Veronica[/name] is nice as well, but I prefer just [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Veronica[/name]. Some more ideas:
I actually really like [name]Irene[/name] [name]Veronica[/name] with no second middle name. The way you are pronouncing it is beautiful. Here are some other names that follow what you are looking for. I am really liking [name]Irene[/name] though
Thank you for your positive feedback so far.
[name]Glad[/name] I am not the only one that likes [name]Irene[/name] [name]Veronica[/name].
From above suggestions I like the following as first names for [name]Veronica[/name]:
[name]Emmeline[/name] (the lean pron.)
[name]Lucy[/name] (I like [name]Lucille[/name], but husband does not because of the “I love [name]Lucy[/name]” connection)
[name]Helene[/name] (the French pron. was actually a contender before I saw somebody on the internet with that exact fn and our rare last name)
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
Following could be middle name options in case we would decide against [name]Veronica[/name]:
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
We know a [name]Dahlia[/name] at work, which makes it impossible to use, otherwise like the name.
[name]Love[/name] to hear some more reactions to my list…
