Victor nn Vin?

Ok, long story short:

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Victor[/name_m], not a fan of [name_u]Vic[/name_u].

If we used [name_m]Victor[/name_m] [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m] or [name_m]Victor[/name_m] [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] (both combos high on our list), do you think nn [name_m]Vin[/name_m] makes sense?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you immediately think [name_m]Vin[/name_m] [name_m]Diesel[/name_m]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would forever be confused for [name_u]Finn[/name_u]?

What about [name_m]Victor[/name_m] [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ved[/name_m]? Too obscure?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I love [name_m]Vinn[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] (prefer two n’s to avoid the [name_m]Vin[/name_m] [name_m]Diesel[/name_m] association), and I guess it would work as a family nickname for [name_m]Victor[/name_m], but personally I don’t think [name_m]Victor[/name_m] needs to be shortened.

Thanks for your reply!

I prefer the spelling of [name_m]Vinn[/name_m] but I really like [name_m]Ved[/name_m]!

Thanks for the feedback!

I like [name_m]Victor[/name_m] [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] NN [name_m]Ved[/name_m]! But my favorite would be [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] NN [name_m]Vinn[/name_m]

It’s a stretch, but it could work. Have you also considered [name_f]Tori[/name_f]?

[name_m]Vin[/name_m] would work for [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] but doesn’t really make sense for [name_m]Victor[/name_m] since there is no ‘n’.
[name_m]Vito[/name_m] could be an alternative nn for [name_m]Victor[/name_m].
If you want to avoid nn’s all together, I don’t see why you couldn’t use [name_m]Vin[/name_m]/[name_m]Vinn[/name_m] on its own…especially because [name_u]Finn[/name_u] seems to be popular.

I think [name_m]Vin[/name_m] works, it’s a cool alternative to [name_u]Finn[/name_u] but not too out there or different either, I really like it. [name_m]Ved[/name_m] also works and I like that too. Honestly, people get the weirdest nicknames from any name so I don’t think those nicknames are at all strange or unrelated to the names.

Ahh I see what you are doing combing two names to get get the [name_m]Vin[/name_m]. In in both [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m] and [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]. I have a sister in law that does the same thing. quite innovative I think! I see where the name [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m] is generally the name of a firstborn off the Mayflower. I have also seen it spelled [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] which I like better.
So Yay for the name [name_m]Victor[/name_m] [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m] (e)!

What about [name_m]Vito[/name_m]? That sounds super cool!

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, I really appreciate it!

I like [name_m]Tor[/name_m], but I know two girls named [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] who go by [name_f]Tori[/name_f] and occasionally [name_m]Tor[/name_m], so it seems feminine to me :frowning:

[name_m]Vito[/name_m] is cool in theory, but when I say it out loud it just seems negative, like when you veto something.

Middle name possibilities [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m] and [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] both have an ‘N’ in them, which is where the nickname [name_m]Vin[/name_m] would come from.
