Victor vs Viktor

Any thoughts on these different spellings? I’m sort of liking the K spelling since my name starts with K… :joy: Do you think the different origin/region is important in this case?

I personally prefer the look of [name_m]Viktor[/name_m], but if you live in an English-speaking area I’d just go for [name_m]Victor[/name_m], since that’s what most people would expect!

Luckily I don’t think it makes much difference in what people would expect in our case since we’re considering it for a middle name.

I personally prefer [name_m]Victor[/name_m] but I see the appeal of both spellings! I think the K spelling is usable in the US (I went to elementary school with a Viktor) but I do think I would expect a [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] to be Eastern European. I wouldn’t find it weird or inappropriate for someone else to use, but I might be a little surprised.

Also, typing this out I’m realizing I might like the [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] spelling better! It feels fresher and sharper to me while still being classic.

I second pretty much everything @EagleEyes said! I had the exact same thoughts when reading this thread.

I like both, but they do feel different to me. [name_m]Victor[/name_m] is classic and dependable, while [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] feels darker and more mysterious.

From the POV of someone living in an area where [name_m]Victor[/name_m] would be the go-to spelling, I think the K adds interest and I like it better (same with [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] vs Oskar). Both spellings are widely used, so I don’t think either has any exclusive cultural ties.

I don’t think it makes a difference, except for possible misspellings. I’d go with [name_m]Victor[/name_m] though.

With Victor/Viktor I feel like people in [name_f]English[/name_f] speaking countries would probably expect C but be familiar with/not surprised by the K. Personally I prefer [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] a little more. It has a bit more oomph to it imo.

I would choose whatever spelling you prefer since it’s a middle name. [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] looks classy and cool. Go for it.

[name_f]My[/name_f] son’s middle is [name_m]Victor[/name_m], spelled this way since it’s an honor name. I like the [name_m]Viktor[/name_m] spelling a bit more.
