Vincent?

Despite hovering around 100 on the SSA list for the last 50 ish years, I haven’t met anyone under the age of 50 with this as a first name. (I’ve met like 20 of me and my name keeps getting stuck at 200.)

Opinions on [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] as a first name?

I love it. It’s a handsome, interesting, and accessible choice that isn’t very popular or dated. I have been appreciating it more lately; I think that it fits as being comfortably traditional whilst pleasantly stylish – all in all, a wonderful name ripe for the picking. The nicknames are also great: Vin, Vinny, Vince, Vance, or even Enzo are quite usable and charming.

I totally agree with chrisco on everything. I like that it’s not a dated name and it will certainly age well, also I love the nn [name_u]Vinny[/name_u]

I like it and I agree with what @chrisco said too. It comes across as very handsome and dashing with some history behind it.

I’m sorry, I don’t personally like it, or the nns [name_m]Vin[/name_m], [name_u]Vinny[/name_u], etc. HOWEVER, I like that a name like [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] is still attracting parents and getting some use. Personal feelings aside, I think this is a strong and classic choice which is so much more interesting and sophisticated than all the young Masons, Parkers and Braidens around at the moment. It would suit a grown man as well as a little boy and won’t feel dated n a few years.

Thanks everyone! While I’m not keen on the nn [name_u]Vinny[/name_u], I do like [name_m]Vin[/name_m] and [name_m]Vince[/name_m]. It’s a family name, so it’s one I’d consider for the future.

I think [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] is lovely! I prefer it on it’s own though, as I dislike it’s nicknames. I actually have only ever met one, and he’s the same age as I am (20). Other than that, the only other recent time I’ve heard of it, was a film from 2003 with [name_m]Allen[/name_m] Leech from Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u] in it! I think it’s been around that same range of popularity for so long because it’s a classic name, really. There’s no actual age you can put on it, there’s no real change in it’s popularity, and, it fits in with other classic choices like [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], etc.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! Always been a personal favourite!

I know a [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] (who goes by [name_u]Vinny[/name_u]) who’s about 23? He always wore the name very well and we thought he was one of the coolest boys. So I think [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] is a very handsome name that totally deserves more love!

It’s a nice name

I adore it; [name_m]Vince[/name_m] is a cool nickname, too.

I’ve known a couple of [name_m]Vincents[/name_m] in my life, although both are over 50. One always went by [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]; the other was either [name_m]Vince[/name_m] or [name_u]Vinny[/name_u]. I like [name_m]Vin[/name_m] as a nn better than either of the standard nns.
