Here we go again for [name_u]Baby[/name_u] No. 2! Didn’t expect to be contemplating names again so soon when [name_u]Baby[/name_u] No. 1 was still nameless a year ago, but that’s how it’s going to work…
My husband likes the idea of a girls’ name ending with an -ee sound. I’ve always felt girls’ names ending in -ee have a tendency to sound incomplete or childish, though I know this isn’t always the case. Our daughter’s name is three syllables ending in -a, so my husband considers other -a names out. We’d rather have two names we adore than worrying about a perfect sib set — we’re more concerned that they not sound too much alike with the same letters and sounds.
Some not-diminutive -ee names that come to mind immediately for me:
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
Ultimately we’ll care about popularity since our last name is very common, but right now I just need more ideas for -ee names I could love. Our style is more vintage/classic though we’re open to some quirkiness.
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]

Aside from the ones mentioned already ([name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Briony[/name_f], [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], [name_u]Hilary[/name_u], [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Evadne[/name_f], and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] are my top then of those!):
I love -ee sound endings for girl’s names! But yes, I can see why you may feel they sound a bit childish. My name is [name_u]Ali[/name_u] and though I have no intentions on ever going by anything else, it’s hard to imagine myself older when this name.
Anyways, some other -ee sound ending names for girls are…
Thanks, everyone! These are great suggestions that remind me of some names I forgot I’ve liked in the past, plus some I’m considering with a fresh perspective.
[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] and I really enjoy the uniqueness of my name. Its spelling is historically the male’s version. But I like it that way
