I’m back with another name! I have so many on my list but my husband is not as easy to please. The only name that was a common denominator was [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. Middle name would be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (my own name). [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is trendy or classic? I know it’s fairly popular, but it ranks #77 in my state and we have never met one, I’m more concerned with whether it comes to mind as a classic or trendy name. Big sister is [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and I tend to favor the classics over the trendy. Thanks!
I definitely see [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as a classic name!
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] defintely feels more classic than trendy to me!
I love it!!! This is a gorgeous, classic name!
I’m gonna say yes—it’s classic and trendy. I’d actually say it’s vintage, which is trendy at the moment. It’s not like [name_f]Julia[/name_f] where I truly couldn’t guess how old she was. If I heard [name_f]Violet[/name_f], I’d assume she was either very young or very old. I really like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] though.
So I think Violet is one of those names that falls into two categories clearly she’s a classic with a long history of usage. However Violet also fits into the trend of vintage names that have been revived and shot into popularity of recent history therefore could be seen as trendy like for example the name Ivy or Ada. So in my eyes to avoid ‘trendiness’ I think it depends on what Violet is being teamed with. If she was going to be Violet Ava or her sister is Olivia or Isla then I would say Violet feels trendy. But this isn’t the case Violet is being teamed with the classic Elizabeth and her sister will be Julia so completely looses that trendy vibe instead feels classic.
Violet Elizabeth is gorgeous works wonderfully with Julia I say go for it
If you are unsure have you thought of Viola or Violeta? Viola is lovely shares similar sounds to Julia with the strong ‘l’ and ‘a’ sound but isn’t popular so feels very classic. Viola feels like a Julia they make a strong feminine sister pairing. With Violeta she is a name that has really grown on me. I think Violeta is beautiful, elegant and graceful. She has the nickname opportunity of Etta and is really really underused. Honestly I think Julia & Violeta have such a romantic European vibe really gorgeous. Both names work with Elizabeth & sound lovely with Julia making a very unexpected sibling set.
Good luck
I’m not a huge fan of the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f], but [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] sounds very cute and flows well.
You echoed my sentiments exactly. I’ve always loved names where I could never guess the age of the person. I got it with [name_f]Julia[/name_f] but it’s trickier this time around!! Especially with a husband’s opinion to consider thanks for your helpful response!
Thank you for your honest feedback!
Thank you for your response! I was hoping pairing it with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would edge it over to the classic side. I love [name_f]Viola[/name_f] but sadly my husband is not a fan! We have had a really hard time agreeing this go around!
I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and I love this as Julia’s sister. I really agree with @Tori101 in her first paragraph.
I also think 77 in the popularity lists is not that popular. I would say it means more that [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a ‘current’ name. Trendy names are more names that have a steep rise in popularity out of nowhere, as well as not having a timeless quality.
To me honestly I’d see it as more trendy then classic. I say this because as I was pondering how to answer I thought I’d what I’d consider names for each…. And in my brainstorming [name_f]Violet[/name_f] seemed to come to mind for the trendy list where I’m not sure if it ever entered the mind for classics. However, I’m not sure if you have me the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and told me to put it in any catergory I’d like if “trendy” would be what came to mind. I’d put it in the nature group or word name group.
Names along those lines that seem more classic to me would be [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_u]Holly[/name_u] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
All that being said it seems you and your husband both like the name. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a great sounding combo. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] pairs well with [name_f]Julia[/name_f]. Regardless of where it gets categorized it seems like a winner
Both. I think it will be similar to [name_f]Emily[/name_f] rather than [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] when considering how dated it will come across in the future. So, definitely tied to a generation, not really a true classic (like Elizabeth) but still never really becoming dated.
I love it!! [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is stunning!
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] strikes me as vintage but fresh! It’s a lovely name
I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]!
This was a very helpful comment thank you! I literally told my husband my only fear is I don’t want a Jennifer/Ashley/Brittany where they are insanely popular for years then they drop out suddenly and nobody uses them anymore. I am okay with Emily…I agree it’s a little dated but I still know a few little Emily’s
I see [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as a classic!
I have a violet [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] who is 4. I have only ever met one or two other violets and get so many compliments on her name! I am biased but I think the traditional [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a good balance to it!
That’s awesome! We don’t know any here in our social circle. I think it’s a beautiful name
