Violet with our last name...no?

My husband and I both like the name [name]Violet[/name]. However, our last name is Sibert (pronounced “sigh-bert”). Is [name]Violet[/name] Sibert way too truncated/choppy?

Also, we have one daughter and her name is [name]Mila[/name]. I feel like [name]Mila[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] might make it sound like we are celebrity name copycats ([name]Mila[/name] Kunis, [name]Violet[/name] - [name]Garner[/name]/Affleck girl).

The other hesitation I have is that people would maybe call her “[name]Vi[/name]” which I don’t really like.

Thoughts?

It is one letter away from rhyming, so it’s not the best flow. But if you absolutely love it more than any other names I would use it. I would not worry about the celebrity names, they’re not in the same family and it’s not like these are unheard of names. I think [name]Mila[/name] & [name]Violet[/name] are beautiful.

Have you considered:

[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Scarlet[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Esme[/name]
[name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]

There’s also the option of [name]Viola[/name] but that’s a little matchy with [name]Mila[/name]…

I don’t think there’s any problem with sisters named [name]Mila[/name] and [name]Violet[/name], but I do think the sounds in [name]Violet[/name] are too close for comfort with your last name.

I’m not a huge fan of [name]Violet[/name] Sigh-bert, but [name]Mila[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] feel too close to me. If you’re yelling from the other room, it’ll be hard to tell which kid you mean if all they catch is the “ile” sound in the middle.

It is a little rhymey. But, if you love it, it is not that big of a deal.

I does sound rhymey a bit. My [name]Violet[/name] goes by “Vio” actually and I really love this nn on her.

I agree, [name]Violet[/name] does sound choppy with your last name. It isn’t bad, just a little choppy. With the whole [name]Mila[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] copying celebrities- that’s ridiculous. [name]Mila[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] are both names in their own right, if you had daughters named [name]Apple[/name] and [name]Lourdes[/name] then maybe I would think you were copying but that’s only because you NEVER hear these names. As a mom of an [name]Emilia[/name] whom we’ve nicknamed [name]Mila[/name], Ms. Kunis didn’t even cross my mind.

[name]Violet[/name] and [name]Mila[/name] are so beautiful together. I wonder if something like what my friends did would appeal to you. Their favorite name was rhymey with their last name so they actually added another name to make a double first name, in your case, something like [name]Violet[/name] [name]Louise[/name]/ [name]Violet[/name]-[name]Louise[/name], that way, for any occasion that her first and last name were used, the combined name was used and gave the names better flow. They don’t mind if people call her by just the first first name or both and will let her pick if she has a preference when she gets older.

I don’t like [name]Violet[/name] with your last name, sorry.

It’s not ideal, but it’s jot the worst I’ve ever heard either. If you love it and it’s special to you, go ahead and use it.
