Violet…

Would love some thoughts on this one name in particular if possible with fresh thoughts. [name_f]Diana[/name_f] is an honor middle name that will be firm.
I’m also wondering- would a baby named [name_f]Violet[/name_f] be trapped into a theme of purples? I have this blanket that I seriously adore, but would you think a baby named [name_f]Violet[/name_f] wrapped in blankets covered in pink and roses ironic or awkward? Am I over thinking?
I’m having some serious anxiety about picking names! Things i’ve already ordered I love, but as we lean towards a name my mind goes insane picking things apart!!!

Thank you for your help!!

I love Violet; it used to be one of my favorite names! Cozy and familiar but still elegant and put-together.

My first thought about Violet is just flowers in general, not the color, so I think it’s fine! Especially since Violet is so familiar as a name, most people probably wouldn’t think of the color first

I absolutely love the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. I do think you are overthinking things. Someone named [name_f]Violet[/name_f] won’t be trapped into only purple and can wear or be wrapped in any color with any pattern or flower. No one will think twice. It’s really a beautiful choice if you go with it. It’s definitely on my list of my favorite names.

I think youre over thinking! When saying the name without a person it evokes flowers/color images but when saying someones name you think more of the person than a color.

I think you’d get some purpleish references, but nothing crazy. I mean, it is the name of a color.
Not a huge big deal though, it’s an established name aside from the color and flower.

Defs way overthinking

I think if the baby was only ever wearing purple then it would become cheesy, but I think it’s cute when a baby has a few special things related to their name. Like I know someone who named their baby [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and she has a sleeper and a blanket with clementines on it that they did some of her newborn photos in and I found it very sweet. But over time it could become a bit much if [name_f]Violet[/name_f] was only ever allowed to wear purple.

You’re overthinking it. [name_f]My[/name_f] niece Violɛt and her older sister Scarlɛtt flip flop between pink and purple. While they have colour names, they came about naturally and not due to their names. No one thinks anything of it.

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a lovely choice - sharp, bright, and pretty with vintage charm. It’s feminine, floral and I wouldn’t find it strange if she had a pinky/rosy blanket.

Another vote for overthinking!

[name_f]Beautiful[/name_f] name [combo] - and blanket.

Enough people know it as an established name that nobody would think twice about seeing baby [name_f]Violet[/name_f] in pink flowers - at most they’d probably think ‘cute, floral name and floral blanket!’

I wouldn’t expect parents using a colour name to stick to a theme because so many colours are also names - [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f], [name_u]Blue[/name_u], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_f]Amber[/name_f] - that they exist outside the context of the colour. And even if you were choosing a really outlandish colour name (which you’re categorically not), something like Yellow, I still wouldn’t expect the kid to always and only wear yellow.

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] is vintagey, pretty and lyrical and makes for a very elegant pair with [name_f]Diana[/name_f]. Both names I’ve considered using myself!

It can be so hard not to overthink – I feel you!!

But I echo all the previous commenters saying this would not be a big deal, and a [name_f]Violet[/name_f] wouldn’t be too tied to the color or the flower! It’s a lovely, feminine, elegant name, with gentle color/floral associations.

Thank you all so much

Overthinking, dear! [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a pretty name and can wear any color she likes.

Definitely overthinking it!

[name_f]Beautiful[/name_f] name & blanket

Good luck :white_heart:
