I’ve never really liked the name [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. I felt it was too common and it seemed tacky, along the lines of [name_f]Destiny[/name_f], [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u], etc. But then the other day I heard the name [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f]. Idk if these names are related, but I actually kind of liked [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f]. But when I mentioned it here, people commented that it looked and sounded made up. Wdyt? Please tell me your opinions. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t hold back.
I think I prefer this to [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] actually
It’s an Italian variation and they sound very similar to me. Great names, but I don’t care for either.
I like both, but for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] I’m not so fond of the nicknames ([name_f]Vicky[/name_f], [name_f]Tori[/name_f], etc.). For [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f], I like the nickname [name_f]Vita[/name_f].
It kind of hits you over the head with its Italian-ness, but I like it.
I prefer [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and this is definitely the first time I’ve heard it compared to [name_f]Destiny[/name_f] or [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]!
I prefer [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] to [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] but I’d be really surprised to see [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] on someone who wasn’t Italian. I do agree with you about [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] having a somewhat trashy image (especially the nickname [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] in my opinion - it just makes me think of [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] [name_m]Pollard[/name_m] from [name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_m]Britain[/name_m]) I think it’s a shame though because [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is really a very pretty name.
Agreed.
I prefer [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] to [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f], just because of the “hits you over the head with its Italian-ness” feel that [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] has.
[name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] is very pretty, but I’d probably only use it if I were Italian and living either in an Italian-speaking area or around an extended Italian community. The reason? When I say it, it sounds a lot like I’m just saying [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] with poor/mumbly diction, and I feel like it would get misheard a lot unless people were familiar with Italian names.
[name_f]My[/name_f] [name_f]Nonna[/name_f]'s name is [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] and she goes by [name_f]Vita[/name_f]. She was born in [name_f]Italy[/name_f], moved to [name_f]Canada[/name_f] when she was 16. She has no trouble with getting people to say her name correctly. I suppose it would seem strange on a little girl who wasn’t Italian, though.
I personally like the sound of victoria better than [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f]. But regardless of that, the only other problem is see is that I think you’ll hear a lot of “Did you say [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]” anyway. Which if you don’t mind having to correct people here and then, go for it.
I also wanted to say that [name_f]Victoire[/name_f] (the french version) has been growing on me a lot.
I prefer [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] would always get mistaken for her more accepted sister, [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], and that would be very annoying.
Although [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] actually appeals more to me than [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] (which is quite pretty, but not my style) I think that she would be burdened by the similarities. People would always hear it and write it as [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] unless she specified or had a nickname that would make it obvious (which would be hard to do with the resemblance between the two names).
I love [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f]. It’s Italian, not made up! I think [name_f]Vita[/name_f] is a cute nickname, but I think you can use that for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] too. [name_f]Vita[/name_f] or [name_f]Vica[/name_f] are good alternatives to the dated [name_f]Vicky[/name_f], [name_f]Tori[/name_f], etc.
The Italian variation? I like both, but still prefer [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].
I much prefer [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f] and being Italian myself it doesn’t seem that odd to me but I do tend to prefer Italian variants of names. I don’t think it’s too Italian either considering [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] doesn’t strike people as too exotic. Granted I’m very used to hearing Italian names in my family and Hispanic names in my community so some names that seem overly exotic are commonplace to me.
