[name_f]Viva[/name_f] - Nice, but I prefer [name_f]Aviva[/name_f]. I don’t know why, [name_f]Viva[/name_f] just feels a little insufficient to me (despite the fact that I know full well it is a proper name).
Ennie - Definitely as a nickname, but I’m not sure what for. Enda is an Irish saint. I dislike [name_f]Enid[/name_f]. There’s also really out-there ones like Engelbertha, but I don’t know. There’s names that end in -en, like all the Welsh favorites ([name_f]Bronwen[/name_f], etc.), and probably some more I’m forgetting.
Macerine - I dislike this one. It sounds like “macerate” to me, and hence, to emaciate.
Livian - Really pretty, but will probably be mistaken for [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] or [name_f]Livia[/name_f].
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] - I like this spelling. It’s a little old-fashioned, but cute, and the [name_f]Dot[/name_f]/[name_f]Dottie[/name_f] nickname is cute. Not my style, but nice if that is. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] spelling immediately brings to mind [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m].
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] - was the parody [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] fame) played by a man in Midsummer [name_m]Night[/name_m]'s [name_u]Dream[/name_u]. I would hate having that name. Plus, I don’t find it attractive sound-wise; it’s hard to say without lisping.
I like Livian the most, this is very pretty and original. Second choice - [name_f]Viva[/name_f]. Also like [name_f]Aviva[/name_f]. Not fond of Ennie, Macerine, [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t mind [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f].
My favorite from your list is [name_f]Vivia[/name_f]. I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] it, it is actually in my family tree, generations back… so pretty!!!

[name_f]Viva[/name_f]- i have a real soft spot for [name_f]Viva[/name_f]. I had a friend called [name_f]Viva[/name_f] when i was little, it was a nickname for [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] which is gorgeous. And [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] [name_m]Wainwright[/name_m] has daughter [name_f]Viva[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. The down side, and the reason that it doesn’t make my list, is that its often used as a brand name. In the Uk we have [name_f]Viva[/name_f] paper towels and a music channel called [name_f]Viva[/name_f]. But if that doesn’t bother you then its a great name.
Ennie- its a sweet nickname, would work for anything with an En sound. Maybe [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]? Clementine?
Macerine- not into this. I’d prefer [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f].
Livian- its looks like a smoosh of [name_f]Livia[/name_f] and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and a bit made up. Its a pretty sound though.
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]/[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]- two of the best underused old-lady names, especially [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]. i love nn [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f].

Hmmm… We’re considering [name_u]Vyvyan[/name_u] (my husband’s grandmother’s name) and I would use [name_f]Viva[/name_f] as a nn for this. [name_f]Aviva[/name_f] is a BIG no no over here (UK) as it’s the name of a huge insurance company. Ennie could be a nn for [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] or [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] but I wouldn’t use it on its own personally as I don’t think it gives enough room for growth as the wearer gets older. Agree with other posters that Macerine sounds like macerate. ‘Livian’ is interesting but you could go for ‘[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]’ and then combine it with [name_f]Viva[/name_f]? [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] both [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] and they’re on our shortlist for a girl, but hubby prefers ‘[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]’ because we have a double-barrelled surname and he’s worried that the ‘thea’ ending could sound pretentious and I’m worried about the ‘thy’ ending because of [name_m]Oz[/name_m]! [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] is very, very cool but as previous poster has put, the similarity to ‘frisbee’ could be a problem, especially if your little one has a lisp! What about a different ancient Greek name? Euthalia, [name_f]Pelagia[/name_f], [name_u]Hero[/name_u] or [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]?

From your list, I like [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]/[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] best. The [name_m]Oz[/name_m] connection isn’t necessarily a bad one - it’s a literary one, which is nice. [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] gives you options of [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], [name_f]Dori[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] as nicknames.
Ennie would, to my mind, only work as a nickname. [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]? [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]? Endora?

I like [name_f]Viva[/name_f] a lot. [name_f]Viveca[/name_f] is a nice way to get [name_f]Viva[/name_f] if you want a more formal name. [name_f]Viva[/name_f] is my favorite from your list.
[name_m]Favorite[/name_m] on your list is [name_f]Viva[/name_f] but I like [name_f]Aviva[/name_f] a bit better, too. I was also going to recommend [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] instead of Macerine. [name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] is too odd-looking and the pronunciation too difficult for my liking. Neutral on the rest, fine names just not my style. Eight months to go? This baby will have an awesome name.

[name_f]Viva[/name_f] – I like it. It’s lively =] But really, it is. It’s simple and it’s got a punch without being…tacky. Feminine, flair, and clears the bar for taste. Quite like it.

But I could see anything from [name_u]Penny[/name_u] and [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] getting nicknamed Ennie. I think it’s cute. Very cute.

Livian (Lihv-ee-ahn) – Ooh! A nice improvement on [name_f]Livia[/name_f], which I can’t quite love. Livian’s got something.

Ennie, Macerine, and Livian I’m pretty sure I made up (As in, they might be real names somewhere?). Macerine is the best I could do in trying to get to [name_m]Mace[/name_m]/[name_f]Macie[/name_f] as a nn, and is kind of a smoosh of two little girls’ names I’ve encountered recently, one of which is pronounced My-sah-reen. Honestly, I’ve never really heard the word macerate before, and associations like that don’t really bug me. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is one letter away from Violent, and I still like it.
[name_f]Viva[/name_f] - I like it OK. I prefer [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] (or [name_f]Aviva[/name_f]). It’s a brand of paper towels in some parts of the US at least.
Ennie - I think people would hear [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] or [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] a lot. Definitely nickname territory. Maybe for [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]? [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] could also be [name_f]Viva[/name_f].
Macerine - This just seems like it would create headaches. [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f] and [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] are real names, that will also be complicated, but preferable.
Livian - pretty sound but more trouble than it’s worth. [name_f]Livia[/name_f], Olivienne (Ennie), [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] would be better.
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]/[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] - I like both spellings. [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] might be easier for the [name_f]Thea[/name_f] option. Granny-chic more than dated. I like it. [name_m]Oz[/name_m] doesn’t bother me.
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f] - thizz bee, the th being the voiceless one like in thought (i.e., NOT like in this). Has its charms but seems really problematic. Prefer [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
