Vivian or Lillian?

[name_f]My[/name_f] hubby and I are looking for a name that goes with our Spanish last name. I’m [name_m]German[/name_m], but we’d like a name that coordinates with a Spanish last name.
I’d also prefer it not end in a vowel, since our last name begins with one-it might run together. We like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], but also welcome to suggestions.
Which do you prefer and do you have any suggestions? Thank you!

Definitely [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]! It’s beautiful, has a cute nickname, ([name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lilly[/name_f], [name_f]Lillie[/name_f]) and isn’t too frilly like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Vienne[/name_f] is an option if you want to combine the two, but [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is a wonderful choice

[name_m]Both[/name_m] are beautiful names with adorable nicknames. I can see why you are having a hard time choosing! [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is growing in popularity, so if that is a concern to you then I would go with [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. If not then [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a great choice.

Suggestions:
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]! It’s so much rarer (Think of all the [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]'s and [name_f]Lily[/name_f]'s and [name_f]Lily[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f]'s) and is gorgeous, with nicknames like [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] and can easily be matured into. Really, really love this name.

Too many “L” names under 5 right now.
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is better.

“…coordinates with a Spanish last name. I’d also prefer it not end in a vowel, since our last name begins with one…”

[name_f]Lisette[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Marilyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Valerie[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Elisabet[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarice[/name_f]
[name_f]Celestine[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]

I say [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] only due to popularity purposes… but if you do pick [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] it would be lovely. Also, insist that others call her [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], not [name_f]Lilly[/name_f], because there are lots of girls that go by [name_f]Lilly[/name_f], but not many that are just [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. I really love [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], which could be another option for you.

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]… so gorgeous. I don’t care for [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] very much but [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is cute.

[name_f]My[/name_f] thoughts exactly.

[name_m]Both[/name_m] are gorgeous, but it’s hard to beat [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. I adore [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], but I’m not crazy about [name_f]Lily[/name_f].

Very tough choice. PPs have said it best, so I’ll just add some other no-vowel ending names that might work with a Spanish surname.

[name_u]Julianne[/name_u]
[name_u]Marian[/name_u]
[name_f]Myriam[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]

[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]!

I don’t like [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. I think it’s hard-sounding. Most don’t agree, though!

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] because there are so many [name_f]Lilies[/name_f]

I have a [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] (short i like [name_f]Lily[/name_f]), which is similar to [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and a [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] so I couldn’t not comment on you post.

[name_f]Every[/name_f] class or group we have attended with [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] has also had a [name_f]Lily[/name_f] in full or as a nickname so if popularity is a concern for you [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] may not be the way to go. Otherwise it is a lovely name. I love girls names that start with L, they are so feminine.

We have never met or heard of another [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] here in the Midwest USA. We choose the [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] spelling to avoid [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]-[name_f]Anne[/name_f] pronunciation that comes with [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] in our area. I also think [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] would sound better with a spanish last name than [name_f]Lillian[/name_f].

[name_m]Both[/name_m] names are beautiful you can’t really go wrong with those two. Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!

Definitely [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], it’s one of my top 10, and I’ve never met a little [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because it’s in the top 100, doesn’t mean it’s used a lot in your area

Suggestions ([name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is also lovely);

[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]

Tottaly [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] but spell the name [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. Nicknamed [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]

I prefer [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] (I like to spell it [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] though).

Others:

[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Selena[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] definitely! Though I prefer the spelling [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] better than the spelling [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], because [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is how I prefer it.
