[name_u]Love[/name_u] the [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] spelling the most. It has a nice spunky and gothic sort of vibe to it that I find so charming. [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is nice also. For some reason it remind me of [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]'s day though and I picture pink and red surrounding the name. Very lovey dovey in a way to me. [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] is my least liked spelling. It just looks and feels wrong to me.

I have a hard time with this one. In my mind, [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is the spunkiest and “sportiest” of the three. It makes me think of a girl with a quick wit, always on the go, maybe a businesswoman or an athlete. [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is elegant and sophisticated, more literary. I imagine her majoring in English or working at a non-profit. And then [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] is kind of a hybrid of the two. I ultimately voted for [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] because I find it to be the most visually pleasing, I like the [name_m]French[/name_m] aspect of it, and it just feels a bit more “me” somehow.

Honestly I think they’re all lovely. It’s one of the very rare instances I feel that way about a name with multiple spelling possibilities. (I pronounce all three names the same way.)

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is my favorite, although I like the other spellings, too. [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is a lot more feminine to me, and my impulse is to pronounce it viv-ee-EN. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_u]Vivien[/name_u] has more of a spunky, tomboyish vibe that I really like. I prefer [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] over [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] just because I’m more familiar with [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and would normally assume it was spelled this way if I met someone with the name.

I think [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] would be my favourite. Like @dechen, I want to say [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] as [name_f]Vi[/name_f]-vee-EN, even though it is more definitely feminine, and I kind of want to do the same with [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] because of the spelling difference.

All the Vivians I have known have been male, so I prefer the [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] or [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] spellings on a girl, as they feel softer and more feminine. I do emphasise the -EN sound more in [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] than I would in either of the other spellings. [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is [name_f]Vi[/name_f]-vee-un for me, [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] is [name_f]Vi[/name_f]-vee-en and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is viv-ee-ENN
